  I have been reading these boards for more than 2 years and I have noticed a definite slide down over that time. The posts and replies have, at times, been so distasteful I regret that I poked my head in! Yall talk about Christianity and still post some disturbing and hateful comments about other Mom’s and children. Yall talk about the fun of pageants, yet you take all the fun out of it when you post an ignorant or hurtful remark. Yall laud pageants, yet you give pageants a bad name by your actions on the boards. You extol the virtues and benefits of pageantry, then bash a dedicated, hard working Director, Judge, coach, child, parent, H/M, photographer, anyone involved directly or indirectly with the sport. Yall defend against those who shout exploitation, then exploit your own children without a thought. Some of the posts I have read are more disturbing when I think that you ladies are raising children!
  
  Pageants have changed over the past few years, and I agree with the Director that posted that some time ago. She expressed that pageantry has taken a down turn since the internet and rightfully so. The posting of messages that are hurtful, ignorant, untrue, and downright hateful are always done anonymously, thereby making it so easy for people to be hurt and no consequence for the unhappy poster.
  
  The contribution by some Board Owners reinforcing misinformation and threats of exposure is very disturbing. Board Owners have a responsibility to monitor their boards, keep bashing off their boards, and present a wholesome picture to the public. Voy Forums expects this of all Board Owners. It is part and parcel of their agreement with Voy. If these parameters are not met Voy can and will shut down their board with no notice. Yall have seen it happen time and time again.
  
  The list of innocent people who have been harangued, harassed, insulted, accused, threatened and made a mockery of on the boards is too lengthy to list. I am certain each of you reading this post can add to the long list of people who’s reputation was marred, who’s child was destroyed, who’s system was ruined, who’s business was questioned, who’s very presence at the next pageant was a monumental appearance after a severe bashing on these boards.
  
  The people who bash are a select few. They post anonymously, and then accuse others of the same. They copy and paste, alter isp information, post comments about children; then they log back on and offer “unsolicited” support for their victim-anonymously. This is a recurring problem especially on pageant message boards.
  
  I ask each and every one of you Christian spouting women; what are you teaching your children? Are you teaching them to lie, cheat, steal? To be hateful when shrouded in anonymity, then be a false prophet when facing your victim? Are you teaching them that no respect is due or earned by anyone in the pageant community? Are you teaching them that being hateful is a prerequisite for being in pageants? More importantly, are you teaching them that they, too, can and will be targets at a moments notice and they have no recourse?
  
  I have seen the “thought for the day”, the posts about everyone loving one another, the quotes from the bible; the adorable pics of little children hugging and sharing; yet still there are hateful accusations and lies posted everyday! Have any of you visitors to message boards ever thought the reach that the internet has? It is called the “World Wide Web” expressing that it reaches WORLD WIDE! These boards are not just for a select few in pageants, they are visited by many, many people: not all savory either. Yet the mindset of the pageant community is that this is their “own private little world” and they can say whatever they want! How ignorant of all of you to think that an internet message board is a private, pageantry only vehicle. When distasteful posts are left on a board it is another message for all the world to see why pageants are frowned upon; why the consensus of opinion is exploitation of children; why the pageant community is treated as a enigma; and why pageant families still have an upward climb to acceptance and decency.
  
  You all need to step back from your pc’s and take a look at the trash that each of you contribute to. Whether you are a basher or not, posting any comment in support of or as a contributory opinion in agreement with the nasty post, you are a contributor to the overall low opinion that has permeated pageants for many years. Pageantry will gain no respect if this is allowed to continue. Pageantry will always be viewed as a detrimental avenue for children. Fault will always be found with pageantry and each of you are to blame! No matter what side of the fence you are on, if you were to read the posts you, too, would see that ignorance and hate is bountiful and abounds on these message boards.
  
  No one can change the world’s perception of pageantry except each of you, for your children. It’s too bad that the internet has allowed the continued demise of pageantry only because none of you can see the forest for the trees! You, and you alone, are responsible for the world’s view on pageantry. Make it acceptable.
  
  I expect that there will be many distasteful and rude comments under this post. The attacks will abound without even a secondary or moments glance at the message I am trying to give. I ask each of you, especially those that post the Christian messages when desperation lends you no recourse; please clean up your attitudes; stop the bashing, the accusing, the hatefulness and the mean spirited comments about everyone. Do this for your children. Teach them respect, honor, integrity, and honesty. Teach them that it is uncouth and low class to bash and reply to bashes, whether in support or defense. Teach your children that pageantry can be a wholesome sport or hobby if they are in it to really build self-esteem and confidence. No one can excel by mowing down their competition.
  
  Before you post, either to my thoughts and requests or another post, please take a moment and think about the visitors reading your posts. Anonymous or not, ignorance and degradation reeks from many of the posts. Don’t show your butts on the internet. Keep your hateful opinions to yourself. Don’t lay out your feelings for the whole world to see and judge. Don’t post it unless you are confident you COULD put your name to it! Do it for your children and the future of pageantry! • THE RECENT BASHING OF THE GOSNEY GIRLS -- DR. GARY L. GOSNEY, 23:59:03 07/02/02 Tue
  It is with the greatest degree of sadness that I must make a reply to the disgusting display of irresponsible remarks that a great number of misinformed malcontents in the pageant world have made on various pageant boards. My wife, my daughter, and I have been slandered and libeled by people who have not got the guts to list their names on their malicious and hurtful statements on the internet pageant boards. I do not follow these boards; but, the content of these remarks has reached me through my daughter who has been told of the bashing by her friends. My wife rarely lets bashing bother her because her business seems to grow by leaps and bounds in the presence of negative reactions by parents and coaches who her students have trounced in a pageant. But, when it involves her daughter, it upsets her and with Susan when she becomes upset it only makes her work harder and press on with a greater degree of excellence in her students so that they may perform at even higher levels in their events in the pageants. In other words, she doesn't get mad-she gets even. Now, to respond to these false accusations. My daughter, Thumper, is a good child. She is innocent, loving, caring, and kind. She is also a natural born comedianne. Perhaps some of you remember her Patsy Cline, "I Got Your Picture" routine. Her modeling is fun, exciting, and clean it its content. When she performed the routine which involved the humerous pretention of a "marijuanna" cigarette, it was done for fun and as a joke. If someone becomes offended by that, so be it. I am offended much more by the people who cowardly hide behind an internet posting to run down a child, her mother, and her father. If you were too ashamed to include your name, then your remarks have no validity and their negative nature are of no value as are you for making them. This world needs more humor and laughter and less nameless negativism and hurtful coments which have no validity and are made from losers who have only the gutless posts on a pageant board to try and make themselves feel better. Is this anyway to set an example for children? Thumper is a straight "A" student, a hard working pageant child who practices to become better, she a good girl, a Christian, and to all she knows,a good friend. Now, I need to make a few remarks about the coach whose reputation has been questioned by these crude and irresponsible statements. Susan has worked hard all her life. She owned and operated her own dance studio since the age of 15. She had been teaching since the age of 13. She began professionally performing as a singer at the age of 18, touring the entire United States, including Alaska. She performed at Disneyland and her stay was extended to 6 months because of the popularity of her show. She was then asked to move to Disneyworld and she had an extended stay there. It was at Disneyworld that she recorded for Disney. One of the songs, "Have a Happy Day" is still being played over and over at the entrance to Disneyworld. She was also asked to be the singer who would introduce the songs of Norman Gimble and Charlie Fox, who among other hits included "Killing Me Softly," as well as many other American classics. Rather than staying with these songwriters, she decided to return to her first love, dancing and choreography. She returned to her dance studio to teach children and choreograph local musicals. In later years, because of her love for children she opened a baby and childrens store. She had a small chain of these stores but because of the demands of her coaching business, she sold down to one. Susan also does original designs and pageant clothing and makes them by hand with the help of several seamstresses. In addition, her hair and make-up business is booming. I have seen Susan work all night long to get her dresses, sports wear, western wear, or whatever out when she promised. During my entire experience with Susan, I have never heard her use an ugly word, even if she stumps her toe or pinches a finger; it is not a part of her to do so. She is kind, caring, loving, and funny. She is not perfect, but, she is certainly always trying to improve her work and help others. Susan is overweight. She weighed 104 pounds when she was a professional singer, but, not now. She can lose weight to look better. I don't feel that the jealous, self-proclaimed censors can do anything to improve their looks. Susan's heart is sincere and in the right place (a place that is for the betterment of her students); those hipocrites hearts who spend their time insulting her, her family, and her students are certainly not coming from the Christian perspective of "Love one another," "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," and "Judge not, lest you also be judged." Now, as for me, I am an older dad. I have worked hard all my life and earned a lot of money. Susan certainly doesn't "have" to work or subject herself to the insults of these few pageant malcontents. I fought in the war in Viet Nam as a captain in the 25th Infantry Division, earning a number a medals. I say this only to point out that I am and always have been a patriotic American. I write plays, give afterdinner speeches, motivational lectures, write articles, and books as well as work as a veterinarian and a veterinary surgeon. I love my wife and my children. I love Thumper with all my heart, I have never used drugs, Susan has never used drugs, and as a matter of fact I have actively supported drug awareness programs and the Christian Farms Alcohol Rehabilitation Center of Central Texas. We are all devout Christians who believe in the eternal salvation of Jesus Christ. I have been a Sunday School teacher for 30 years, an elder, a deacon, a trustee, and a lay minister. I am completely offended by the references to the character of my wife, my child, and me. Now, to the meat of my long dialog, I have enough money to find out the slanderers and libelers. It is not hard to to obtain this information. If the bashing continues, I promise you that I will use ALL the money necessary to BRING SUIT against those RESPONSIBLE PARTIES. I already know one of you for certain. I do not like this type of action, but lies from malcontents must stop. If you were offened by the routine, then so be it. In the history of the world I don't think that it will be noticed. If you found it funny, then may God bless you non-judgemental hearts. I do hope this bashing stops immediately, if not then I will take action to have it dealt with in an appropriate legal manner.

Why are all of these innocent children being sent to your house to get lessons from you when you are just taking all of their money away from them that they could be using on a better coach. She has the same numbers as the midwestern miss basher to. There is another one that posts under the name of Dana Conner on the advertising boards. isp numbers match several of her post. In her defence it could be someone that is posting for her. Not sure.

  • Like it or not, TG is held up as the standard for all SG's students. So when she does something in poor taste, it's going to be noticed. Whether you thought it was funny, representation of drug use by an 11-year old is in poor taste. Racist jokes are in poor taste also, yet some people laugh at them and think they are funny; but that doesn't make them acceptable.       • Standards for acceptable behavior should apply to everyone. SG made a poor decision in having her "star" do that onstage. Some of the comments on this have been way out of line, but many of them have merely expressed shock that a "respected" coach would find that particular routine acceptable. One can express disapproval without being a basher. SG simply made a bad decision; as anyone in the pageant world knows, when you goof up in public, you WILL be criticized for it. Criticism, in my opinion, is quite justified in this instance, but bashing on a personal level, is not. There's a difference.   Things I have learned over the years about bashers and wanted to share.
  
  1. Bashers are usually people that you call your friends or used to call your friends. Normally its not people you do not know. So, in ASSuming you know who your basher, you are probably wrong.
  
  2. Never believe what you see or read on the internet. Most the time is something that never happend or has been taken way out of content. Perfect example, Did you ever see a pic of the worlds fattest cat? Not true. It was a hoax.
  
  3. If your computer is set to the bash boards and you refresh more than 4 times a day, you need to find something better to do with your time. Spend time playing a game with your kids, they will be alot happier and so will you.
  
  4. The bash boards are visited by a certain group of people. Once you know all the players its very easy to recognize who is who.
  
  5. Bash board owners are two types of people. The first type is the kind that set the board up to take out their personal issues against someone they do not like for whatever reason. Example, you will only see certain names on that board and they answer themselves all the time.
  The second type of bash board owner is the type that set the board up to catch ISP's. They will post questions and see who answers them and then expose them without exposing themselves. Either type cause problems.
  
  6. Usually the basher has many more personal problems than the person that is getting bashed.
  
  7. If you have not been bashed that does not mean your perfect, just means that you have not been recognized in the pageant world. Most popular contestants, parents, directors, coaches, h/m, etc. all have been bashed.
  
  Things I will never understand,
  How can someone bash a baby? Call a child fat and ugly?
  How hard is it to type congratulations? Just keep your hands off the keyboard if you feel compelled to bash.
  To the bash board owners, You have been asked over and over to clean up your boards and you don't. Have your fun now because it is going to turn on you. You will be the ones being bashed soon and no one will feel sorry for you because you did it to yourself.

  This all sadden's me deaply~ the last time we did a pageant was in October, for some of you who may not be aware Meagan was diagnosed with Lymphoma at the beginning of this year. I cannot believe the turn that pageants has taken and the bashing and the bitterness. I read these post about once every 2 weeks sometimes longer because in my free time I am spending every spare minute with my daughter the only child that I have for the time being...the daughter that I watched going through a tough surgery on February 25 and the same daughter that I had to sit down and tell on February 28 "baby you have cancer" and she knows that cancer causes people to die because she remembered her great grandmother passing from cancer and the fear that came over her face and the look of uncertainty she had in her eyes....the question that a mom couldn't answer "WHY MOMMA" and in the weeks to follow she went through this bone scane this cat scan this EKG taking this blood for this and this blood for that.....you moms think it is hard to here your child being called out for 1st 2nd or 3rd runner up and you look at the score sheet and try to figure out what went wrong.. you spent so much time working on her modeling, getting the perfect dress or sportswear, getting the perfect pics. try sitting in a conference room with Doctors and they look you dead in your face and say your child has cancer, and you don't get score sheets ladies you get a prodical of medicines that are going to go into your childs little body that cause hair loss, weight loss, her bones to ache, her stomach to cramp, constipation, skin discoloration, irritaation of her nerves one minute she is laughing one minute she is crying, heart damage, nausea, vomiting,mouth sores, fever aches and pains, you then say what went wrong were did I go wrong why is God doing this to a sweet innocent baby, my only baby.
  and then you see your daughter go from having long beautiful red hair and then she comes walking up to you with a hand full of her hair, asking me if she is going to die and within 4 days she is completly bald she tells me over and over how ugly she is. she can no longer be a child and go to school she has to stay in away from the outside world so she wont catch anything, you watch your child throw up over and over and her little body becomes week and limp and there is absolutly nothing you can do but pray her through it and wonder if God is really hearing your prayers.
  this is just a small example of what life has been like for Meagan Sewell.
  PLEASE I am begging all of you to listen very closely~~~ within a matter of days, hours, minutes, even seconds something like this can happen to one of your babies, I hope and pray it never does, Please always speak BLESSINGS on these beautiful children your tongue is very powerful, if someone curses you or your child pray blessings on them and there children. we only get one chance with our children they are our heritage from God and if God can't trust us with them and if we do not train them up right he can take them from us.

When I heard about Meagan a couple of months ago, I was just in shock that this could happen to such a beautiful little girl full of life and you do ask...why?   Ok, I know that people will probably bash me for asking this, but does anyone else think it is strange that Denell has entered JP into a pageant just a few days after their house burned down? Now, I have never lost my home to fire, and pray I never do-- but I think that if everything had just burned up I would have a whole list of priorities in my life, and pageants would not be one of them. Maybe I am wrong about this, and going to a pageant after my house burned down would cheer me up, and be a good thing for me and my daughter. But I don't think I would have the composure for a pageant after suffering this terrible tragedy.
  
  When I read about the fire, it horrified me, because that is one of my worst fears (that and tornadoes). There was a post on several boards asking for donations to help the family, and i thought that it was a very worthy cause. I would want someone to help my family if we were in this position. But then I read where JP just competed in a pageant, and I am thinking that if they can do pageants, do they really need donations? It does not seem like it. So, if they are doing this well, I think that we could find better places to donate our money-- charities that are truly in need. Does that make sense? I am not writing this to put Denell down, but if they don't need any help, and it does not look like they do because they are back on the pageant circuit already, then we should be informed of that so we don't start sending out money that could be sent where it is truly needed. Or sending things like clothes and household goods, etc. If those things are not needed, it would be nice to be told to hold off and not send them.

  • Denell already had the money put away for this pageant. She went ahead and entered hoping that JP would supreme and win them some money. The day of the fire JP told her momma that she wanted to practice for her pageant. It's hard for anyone on the outside to understand how passionate JP is about her pageants.   I heard that this pageant sucked.The director did not give what she said she would in the way of awards and the paperwork said no double crowning, but the supremes received all the overall awards. Does this seem right? I think that directors should follow their paperwork. So much for this system. Looks like another one down the drain into the gutter where it belongs.
