My ex also had a child but with his ex wife. They divorced (not because of him - she is literally certifiably crazy and has since divorced her second husband after stealing all his money). My ex was also into sex. He was always the one asking for it, not me. So it has left me baffled, just as it has you. He had a child and was divorced. If you're a closeted gay man isn't that your out? Couldn't you say: Well, I was married and had a child and married life just wasn't for me. Bam! Done! There's an excuse for the rest of your life! Why go pull in a second wife into the mix? I will never understand that.

I too sat him down and said I just want you to be happy and I think you'd be happier with a man, please just let me know what's going on. I got nothing in return but begging to stay with him and denial after denial and year after year of me finding gay porn and dildos and pictures of himself naked, until I finally said enough is enough. I never got an explanation. I wish I had a better answer for you but some of them just refuse to come to terms with it. They would rather spend a lifetime hiding it.
