Go read on emptyclosets.com in the "Later in Life" section - the vast majority over there knew from at least young adulthood. You will also read posts about people who are purposely hiding or waiting for a "good time" to tell their spouses. There are people posting there who use escorts and CL or hook-up apps to have fun outside their marriages.

Every one of them you see the same thought - yes I'm gay, but that's not why my marriage should end, we have other problems. Yeah, really?

Or - they bill themselves as their spouse's savior and worry that their spouse will crumble into tiny pieces when told. So they wait. And wait. And post on their little forum about how they look at "guys" or "crave women" and ponder online about how to get their spouse to approve of an open relationship.

It's all devious and deceitful. It's selfish. They would rather listen to each other talk about "internalized homophobia" or "heteronormative conditioning" and wait for that magical good day to tell their spouse. Then, after they finally do, they post about dying to get away and be "free." Idiots, all of them.
