Subject: I often have to read sections twice or more to keep all the characters straight - especially in the later books when so many new ones are introduced. I have completely forgotten about Claire leaving her skirt on a ship ... was it when she went overboard with the help of the Goat Lady to escape from being surgeon on the British ship?
