Lee,
I didn't know you had ever seen Tigg work, you should have came and introduced yourself. Night Train (Tigg) was the first Boerboel a lot of people first witnessed do bite-work, we promoted the breed doing work heavily a dozen years ago with him.

I trained my first PP dog when I was 19...I have trained many since, no video, don't have video of my children either. Wished I did.

I too would like to see more emphasis on steady solid nerve, but unlike most sport people (and you) I do not need more drive (I assume you mean prey) as most of my dogs have ample drive for their work. The main reason for my post is to shine light on the fact that most sport people WILL want more drive (primarily prey) which in my experience with a great number of working Boerboels runs against the correct Boerboel temperament. In my opinion with more than a dozen truely hard male Boerboels I have worked, correct temperament is plenty for PP work and has no down-side for utility work, stock work, or living in the home with friends and family. Eccessive prey drive is a problem here on the farm, and has no up-side for daily use.

And yes, doing anything RIGHT is better than doing nothing at all.

DKH
