The scripture you use above out of Daniel is most interesting. It is the prophesy of the "little horn." There is also a great parallel to the End Times prophesy concerning the Antichrist.

In this case, Antiochus enlisted the service of apostate Jews. We read much about the mischief of these types of Fowlers in the Books of Maccabees, the treacherous men in Israel. The Fowler types do "such as do wickedly against the covenant." There are those which throw up their perverted religion, and comply with the heathen, they are corrupted with flatteries, and are hardened in their apostasy. They are the Amaziah's of today, fully intrenched in the "king's court." They are the apostate "Christians" which infest many a church today.
