I just realized, after viewing GellyB's pics at R1, his church is, in reality, a Southern Baptist Church, in flavor.

It certainly has all the markings of a "comfortable" church. Padded pews, the lack of a simple dress code.(It it not unrealistic to expect men to wear a shirt with a collar or the ladies to wear a dress or skirt and not look like you just rolled out of bed. i.e. cleaned and pressed, shaven, hair combed and trimmed, etc.) It's important these daze to be able to tell men from women, in the church. ;)

The baby dedication thingy is an attempt at "programs." A very RCC way of getting people to come to the services. The new church here has move theme daze than you can imagine. A constant barrage of "bring a friend to church day and receive a ticket for a chance at a prize day, etc." The muzak goes boarders on the CCM realm, too! The overhead projector is a nice touch though. Guess it saves money by not having to print a weekly service schedule. Of course, yule have to find other places to take notes, but not a problem. I'm sure GellyB has all his notes to refer back to later.

Somewhere, in the back of the sanctuary, there must be a clock. The congregation must know the schedule and when to pack up their things and head on out the door. I've always thought it a bizarre thing to have a clock in a church. Time should be the least of your concerns at church. The "god in a box" type churches which must maintain a set schedule of time, are clueless.
