He will be remembered for lying to your face, talking down to people with 5x his experience, not admitting to any of his stupid decisions, fucking with people just because administration backed him up, taking care of his chosen kiss-ass do nothings, weaseling his way out of Captain's- forced OT, panicking during codes, Hosp trips,(and drills), shitting on his Sgts and Lts, causing at least 10 good officers (that I can recall)to leave that shift- go out on IA, or retire, and being deathly afraid of all inmates....so long Barbosa, you will NOT be missed.

We know your time in the DOC is coming near to retirement and that you have always had many opinions of your fellow officers not to mention administrators. You have always considered yourself smarter than everyone one else and even attempted your dry, dull humor thinking that you are superior by belittling others.
I am quite sure you will find some errors in my writings and attempt to belittle me as well(which is fine ) but the truth must be told and expose you for the phony, lame ass correction officer that you have been for 20 yrs.
Mr. So-Called Professor you may in fact have the intellect of the english language and have the nerve to correct your fellow brother and sister officers (which I don't think you would consider brother and sister) because you are superior and an individual who DOES have an (I) spelled in the word TEAM.
Mr. Professor Corrector, a person with such superior intelligence above and beyond everyone else in the DOC
why have you not progressed beyond CO I ? I mean hell man with your superiority, Coupe Deval should have replaced Dennehy with you taking the reigns of the DOC.
I have worked with you for several years on the 3-11 shift, then you left for the 11-7 shift only to return to the 3-11 and you have not changed one iota, you are still scared stiff around the hardcore inmates and always been the tough superscrew with the likes of SHU inmates.
Mr. Professor Corrector what the hell kind of legacy will you be bragging about to your wife, children, family and friends after 20 yrs in the DOC when there are many of us who have worked (unfortunately) with you side by side for many years? Massachusetts is not a very big state (oh I apologize Mr. Professor Corrector) I mean Commonwealth and there are many families and friends who know someone so try to refrain yourself from boasting about your career in the DOC because you wouldn't want your wife, children, family and friends to KNOW THE TRUTH about how truly scared to death you were working amongst convicted felons and attempted your so-called superior intillect and dry humor to intimidate the weakest cons.
SO WITH THAT BEING SAID TOM PERRY try to get a life outside the DOC when you retire very soon.

I am calling for all members that ran for an elected position last March 2007 to reach out to one another and assemble a watchdog unit task with overseeing current spendings and also to conduct a full audit of past spendings. Remember, we are entitled to this and if we don't address it now it might be too late.

Let us not get fooled a third time around by the same old it don't concern me, or because some loyalist with personal gains writes a croc of bullshit on this board or better yet its just the union busting by eboard candidate losers, No, I say, if you truely want your union, then get behind the men and women that plan to hold all criminal matters accountable and help us take back what is our righfully so.

NEW BEDFORD — A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled against Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson in a case where five guards accused the sheriff of violating their civil rights by punishing them for talking about a union picket line.

“There is ample evidence that Hodgson suspended the plaintiffs not out of a legitimate concern that their speech compromised safety at the correctional facilities but because of their pro-union activity,” the court ruled.

Below is what management and supervisors (Captains) cannot do under the law with regard to unions or union activity. Some of these may not apply to us, but most do. When you find one of these has been violated, quickly write it down (it's more effective if you begin to write in front of the violator)and give it to a steward or the e-board as soon as possible.

What Employers and Supervisors Can NOT Legally Do

Management can not attend any union meetings, park across the street from a meeting place, or engage in any undercover activity, which would indicate that the employees are being kept under surveillance to determine who is and is not participating in the union program. (IPS works directly for management so make sure to include them as a manager or supervisor)

Management can not tell employees that the company will fire or punish them if they engage in union activity.

Management can not lay off, discharge, or discipline any employee for union activity.

Management can not grant employees wage increases, special concessions, or benefits in order to keep the union out.

Management can not bar employees in support of the union from soliciting employees' memberships on or off the company property during non-working time.

Management can not ask employees about union matters, meetings, etc. (Some employees may, of their own accord, walk up and tell of such matters, but to ask questions to obtain additional information is illegal.)

Management can not ask employees what they think about the union or a union representative.

Management can not ask employees how they intend to vote.

Management can not threaten employees with reprisal for participating in union activities.

Management can not promise to increase benefits to employees if they reject the union.

Management can not give financial support or other assistance to employees or groups of employees who favor or oppose the union.

Management can not announce that the company will not deal with the union.

Management can not threaten to close, in fact close, or move a plant in order to avoid dealing with a union.

Management can not ask employees whether or not they belong to a union, or have signed up for union representation.

Management can not ask an employee, during the hiring interview, about their affiliation with a labor organization or how they feel about unions.

Management can not act in a way that might show preference for a non-union employee.

Management can not make distinctions between union and no-union employees when assigning overtime work or desirable work.

Management can not purposely team up non-union employees and keep them apart from those supporting the union;

Management can not transfer workers on the basis of union affiliation or activities.

Management can not choose employees to be laid off in order to weaken the union's strength or discourage membership in the union.

Management can not discriminate against union people when disciplining employees.

Management can not by nature of work assignments, create conditions intended to get rid of an employee because of his union activity.

Management can not fail to grant a scheduled benefit or wage increase because of union activity.

Management can not deviate from company policy for the purpose of getting rid of a union supporter.

Management can not take action that adversely affects an employee's job or pay rate because of union activity.

Management can not threaten workers or coerce them in an attempt to influence their vote.

Management can not threaten a union member through a third party.

Management can not promise employees a reward or a future benefit if they decide "no union".

Management can not tell employees overtime work (and premium pay) will be discontinued if the plant is unionized.

Management can not say unionization will force the company to lay off employees.

Management can not say unionization will do away with vacations or other benefits and privileges presently in effect.

Management can not promise employees promotions, raises or other benefits if they get out of the union or refrain from joining the union.

Management can not start a petition or circular against the union or encourage or take part in its circulation if started by employees.

Management can not urge employees to try to induce others to oppose the union or keep out of it.

Management can not visit the homes of employees to urge them to reject the union.

Any of the above acts constitutes a violation of the National Labor Relations Act. Therefore, YOU as a worker and a supporter of a free trade union movement should report these acts to your union representative immediately
