The ASGiC Acne Diet & Holistic Lifestyle Conversation Room
is a support group and chat area for everyday people with acne to visit, discuss, share treatments, provide support, and move through the stressful event of having acne.
This specific ASGiC room is to share and discuss our eating habits, diets, supplementation and a holistic, healthy way of living to help prevent & heal acne
This is one of many of the Acne Support Groups out there, with the hope that armed with enough knowledge and support, there will one day come a time when we will all live in a world where we all have clear, healthy normal skin.

Holistic Lifestyle | Supplements | Eating habits etc -- Just Me, 23:24:31 04/16/04 Fri

Heya all

I used to spend so much time here posting when this site first started it's unbelievable! How did I find so much time?!! Woah!!

Anyway, I just wanted to share a little and make the most of my little *time back* here .... I had made a page that shared what my eating habits and supplements were at that time 4 years ago thou they have certainly changed now.

Now I don't take so many supplements as I used to then only things like Flax Oil, a multivatimin, LGlutamine, Q-10 Coenzyme, Magnesium .... and diet wise well I could improve on my eating habits thou I'm fairly healthy in what I choose to eat; sticking to greens, vegetables, baked potatoes, always have breakfast ie protein shake or high fibre cereal; lots of water - at least 2 litres of Evian a day; I workout regularly and that has probably helped a lot - I do

# Hatha, Asthanga, Chakra and Tantra Kriya Yoga
# Weight training
# Winsor Pilates
# Cardio on the stationery bike, stepper, threadmill, elliptical
# Aerobics
# Lynne Robinson's normal pilates

to name a few; averaging about say 10 hours or so a week; with 5am wake up calls (argh!)

I meditate regularly using the Centerpointe Programme every night; plus also have a huge range of other guided meditations etc etc etc that I use to help heal mind body and soul.

I don't drink, nor smoke and try to get at least 7-8 hours sleep a night. Working a stressful 10 hour day at work as well - you can imagine where my time goes (smiles). I listen to meditative tapes in the car on the way to and from work and find it all helps .... as for me personally I find that when I'm stressed, my body and skin plays up.

It's taken me years to get to this stage and I can understand that as teenagers out there, a lot of you want to party, drink to excess and have lots of binge foods etc ... I guess you all know that we are what we eat ... thou some sites will say that it's not true ... it is to a certain extent. Foods are healing; a healthy lifestyle is healing ....

I'm tired; so keeping this short!

To find out what supplements you need specifically for your own body, I highly recommend you make an appointment with a Kinesiologist who can do some muscle testing and find out what supplements your body needs and also do a full body diagnostic and who can recommend what steps you can take in order to heal your body. Yeah, I know, What is Kinesiology? < click on link to read :-)

I had a kinesiologist years ago and he guided me on the supplements that I personally needed to take and it helped me a lot on the road back to recovery / healing in what my body needed regards to my stomach issues, acne, irregular periods etc, back pain from whiplash injury etc etc. I really should go back and see a kinesiologist again as I'm sure I'm lacking in some supplements currently and could use some professional help etc.

i saw your pic you posted and you dont look like you have acne scars at all.do you use make-up to hide them?anyways your a pretty cute girl and have a great figure.

Thx Joe :-) Trust me, I do have acne scars and red facial marks like most of us that have suffered from acne; and yes make up helps to camouflage it. I guess there are different levels from minor, medium, average, to severe acne scars. Mine are on the surface like the scars you get from chicken pox I guess - don't know what the official term for it is; and I have uneven skin tone - depends on the time of the month as sometimes my skin looks *normal* and healthy and at other times when I'm stressed, it looks red and uneven toned; and oily. I have a deep scar on my nose from early teens (can't even remember it) and I don't think anything can fix that one!! Oh maybe the procedures the guys talk about on the scar board perhaps but cos it's on the side of my nose it doesn't bother me too much (unless I really look at it). I don't wear much make up and like to stay natural looking as I possibly can and yet help camouflage the uneven skin tone (don't we all hey (smiles) and I personally can tell where my acne scars are and can remember the nightmare of some of them vividly still and how long they lasted! Argh!

Rianne recommended to me Natura Bisse's Glyco Peeling and for me personally it has really helped with the facial redness and uneven skin tone. My mother is highly judgemental (argh) and even she has commented that my skin tone has improved tremendously the past year or so since using Natura Bisse skin products. The Natura Bisse products have a kind of bleaching effect on the skin and I'm not supposed to go outside without sun block especially after I've done a Gyco Peel session and I can do a peel twice a week for a couple of months. My skin had to build up to it though and I used the lower strength first. I read somewhere that the Glyco Peel has an effect on helping to reduce acne break outs as well (actually I saw that on a plastic surgery / facial rejuvenation programme on satellite tv). I'll post more on that in the appropriate conversation room at some later time in the next day or so

Remember the photo isn't a close up and I'm sure most of us here could pass off in a normal photo and look normal and if it was close up, the scars would be noticeable. Even Demi Moore has noticeable scars on a close up on the big screen :-)

It's taken a lot of hard work to get my skin to where it is today and it's a work in progress; and hard work, like exercising and trying to maintain a healthy body!

This is a fantastic article and makes interesting reading! And it also validates what I just shared below (grins)!! The quote is taken from :

The protocol incorporates lifestyle change, and implements healthy diet, body cleansing, exercises and different traditional and natural therapies. Remember: There is always something that can be done! The first thing to do is to change your mood. If you are depressed, if you are unhappy, you can not be healthy. Advice: start with the Laughing cure!

Laughing provides us with the natural inner massage, and through change of mood it can account for up to 30% of cure!

The Acne Cause

To understand The Acne Prevention and Curing Protocol, you should first get familiar with The Acne Cause

Now, I assume that you know something about what is causing Acne, so we can continue with the Acne program.

Acne Diet

Let's start with most simple part of this program: Acne diet. When it comes to diet, it is very important to avoid eating Toxins and Foods that Kill. Please follow those links and learn what are The Toxins I am talking about and what are those " Foods that Kill". Now, important part of your diet should also be Water Cure. Please, become familiar with Water Cure. Your Diet should contain: Foods That Heal, Vegetable juices, Fats that Heal, Unrefined Sea Salt. Also, try to understand food tolerance. You can not find the right Acne diet, unless you fully understand and learn about food tolerance.

Take some time to implement and learn all what you have read here, and then continue reading further.

Body Cleansing (Acne)

Now, let's start with body cleansing. Body cleansing is extremely important part of every prevention and curing program. You are guessing: "Dietary changes you made are also a form of cleansing." But, most people need more then this, especially when it comes to liver health. Body Cleansing is even important for children. Our internal organs can hold a lot toxins, and sometimes, it is impossible to get those toxins out, without doing cleansing. Our liver can contain hundreds of intrahepatic stones. Those stones will block bile flow, and affect the bases of your health, your digestion. Another problem are parasites. You must learn as much as possible about parasites. And, don't forget also dental toxins.

Let start with cleansing program. You are suppose to do cleansing in this order:

Bowel cleanse with parasite cleanse
Dental cleanup (if you can afford it)
Kidney Cleanse and
Liver cleanse.
Body Cleansing for Adults:

Bowel cleanse and Parasite cleanse !
Dental cleanup - dental work may be one cofactor of your disease: amalgam, root canal, nickel crowns, cavitations (pocket inside jaw bone left after extraction of the wisdom and molar teeth )
Kidney cleanse
Liver cleanse and Gallbladder cleanse -liver flush!
Make sure you visit those pages and get more info. Dental cleanup can take many years. If you have a lot of dental metal, do not rush to replace it all at once.
Bowel cleanse should be done at least once a year.
Liver cleanse is a procedure that, for best results, should be repeated at least 6 - 10 times, every 2 or 3 weeks.
Kidney cleanse is simple and cheap, many herbs can be used to cleanse kidneys. If you have no kidney stones, even Water Cure could be enough!

Body Cleansing for kids:

Parasites cleanse
Dental cleanup .. Kids older then 8 may need dental cleanup (amalgam) and liver cleanse:
Liver Cleanse - flush

Physical Activity (Acne)

Physical Activity helps cleansing, it brings balance and relieves stress.
Psycho-physical activities will help you balance your body and will help you relief accumulated stress. You will have to find a form of exercise that suit you. I will just give you a few examples:

Mini Trampoline jumping - rebounding!
Meditation
Walk or jog in the nature : Forest, Mountain , river / sea / lake side, beach ... fishing, photo-safari, rowing, riding, golf, ...

Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Meditation ...
Yoga - Hatha, Meditation, Chinese Yoga ...
Martial Arts: Karate, Judo, Kung Fu, Teakwood, Budokai, Uechi, Aikido ...
Dancing, Aerobics, Gymnastics, Stretching ...
Swimming in non-chlorinated water ! ( Best in minerals rich water - Ocean ! )
Weight lifting, ....

Do not exhaust yourself !
Do not exercise with full stomach ! (You may take a walk!)
Do not hurt yourself !

Sweating (Acne)

Sweating is powerful way to cleanse your body from accumulated toxins.
examples:
- exercise with a lot of clothes
- Sauna
- drink warm tea in a hot room ...
- eat CAYENNE pepper! ...

It is known that some modern industrial toxins and pesticides can leave your body only through sweat glands!

Psychotherapy and Spiritual Therapy

Human body is not just this what we can see. There is more to it. To treat other level of us, to treat soul and to treat mind and unconscious parts of us, I suggest you Hellinger's therapy. *unquote*

Foods that Heal -- Just Me, 09:51:53 04/17/04 Sat

Sometimes I wonder whether it's the *conditions* I have in my body that causes / contributes to my acne and I'm sure it is ... for instance I have had stomach problems most of my life and have been in and out of hospital trying to diagnose what's wrong. I had things from really bad constant stomach pains to acid in to somach etc that were 24/7 and wouldn't go away and the doctors at the hospital really couldn't explain it. Then I started getting allergies in my skin ie like red rashes / hives on body in my early twenties and again no one could figure out what caused it or how to heal it and I was in and out of hospital and it was worst when I was stressed (turns out now that I have food allergies!)

I recently found out through investigations on private health that I have Holmes Adie syndrome which affects the pupils of the eyes where the pupils don't dilate to light (one of them anyway) and the pupils have a problem focusing at times. Was told that I have had this since possibly a child and no one knows what causes it - could be a virus attack as a child; and it affects the neurological system in the body which could explain all the things that have been happening in my life; and I wonder too whether it contributes towards my stomach issues, skin issues and also facial acne issues. I'm sure it does.

There is no remedy for Holmes Adie Syndrome and it's not life threatening and they don't know too much about it even today in 2004. It's just relieving to finally know I'm not bonkers and why none of the doctors throughout the past 20 years have been able to figure out what was wrong with me!!

Though thankfully everything is under control and hopefully healed ie my stomach condition - I help that with my eating habits, homeopathy, lots of water - refer Foods That Heal; and my skin condition has also eased up because I life a holistic lifestyle (refer my email dated yesterday re Holistic Lifestyle | Supplements | Eating habits etc) healing mind, body and spirit.

For me personally I still feel that though modern medicine helps, ie antibiotics etc they only serves to surpress the acne condition as when you come off, it comes back with a vengence and your body takes longer to heal - ask any holistic practitioner eg reflexologist, reiki practitioner, oestopath etc ...

I have had one of those eye photos done where they take photos of your eyes and can diagnose what's wrong with your body; and I had one done last year and was advised to atke lots of LGlutamine, Flax Oil (both for skin) and also have a liver cleansing diet (ahhh, it's all coming back to me now (smiles) which I did last Christmas ie 2002 and it really helped kick start things for me throughout my whole body by having a full cleanse of the body.

I bought something through the net called Nature's Secret Ultimate Cleanse which are tablets you take for as long as it takes - 3 months or so and it really cleans you out! I do the cleanse once a year and/or when I feel like my body needs a detoxification.

So look after your body, mind and spirit and your skin will thank you for it! There are no quick fixes in life; yes perhaps antibiotics and modern medication, though remember that there is a price to pay for later; unless you're one of the *lucky* ones where acne is only a short term condition and not a life long one. Those derms that say it only last throughout your teens are probably people that have never had acne in their life!! The best *teachers* are those that have had the worst experiences!!

bad effects to skin for drinking coffee -- Cindy Smith, 03:21:10 04/12/04 Mon

I find that when I drink coffee my skin becomes excessively oily and pimple prone. I have always had flawless skin and am very younglooking for age. Why is coffee causing this problem?

Coffee is one of the most acidic foods out there ... too much can create a toxic liver. If the liver is toxic, the blood supply is of poor quality and can effect the skin.

Green tea is much better.
