A Simple Method to Obtain Healthy and Splendid Skin


Both women and men can use certain vegetable oils and other natural oils to keep the skin young, healthy and beautiful. Pure virgin olive oil of good quality is one of these. Another oil that can be recommended is argan oil. Another useful natural substance for the purpose is squalane. This is a hydrocarbon naturally produced in human body, the body of marine animals and in certain plants.

You can use pure olive oil and argan oil, or a blending of these directly upon the skin. Squalane is already a component of these oils. You can add extra squalane to the blending to enhance the effect, but this substance can give irritations if it is used in pure form regularly.

Olive oil of good quality can easily be obtained in any supermarket or alimentary store. Argan oil or squalane may be obtained in drug stores, certain general warehouses or by purchase through internet.

These oils will reduce inflammation and stimulate healing of all types of skin injuries. They also counteract injuries from excessive sun exposure. They probably do not screen out ultraviolet rays in the sun in the same way as lotions and creams with sunscreen. They should not be used instead of sunscreen by lengthy sun exposure.

There are many ways of utilizing these oils for the benefit of the skin health and beauty. Here is a practical procedure that is fine to use a couple of times each week:

- First take a warm shower and wash all your body with a mild soap.

- Flush away all the soap.

- Then dry all your body with a clean towel and wait some minutes to you are completely dry.

- Then smear the oil of choise onto all of your body and in your face. Use so much that you feel there is an excess of oil all over you.

- Then wait some minutes. During this time you can massage yourself with your hands or let another person do the massage to work the oil well into your skin.

- Then take a new warm shower, but without soap this time. Now most of the excessive oil will run off during the shower.

- Lastly dry all your body with a new clean dry towel. The towel will absorb the remains of excessive oil.

After this procedure your skin will be saturated with oil, but not excessively. The skin will feel smooth, look shiny and feel comfortable after the procedure.

A man can use the procedure after having shaved. If you have a strong hair growth on your body, the procedure works best if you shave your body skin first during the first shower.

I've just been letting everything pass me by lately. I haven't been up to much lately. My life's been dull recently, but that's how it is. I've just been sitting around doing nothing. It's not important. My mind is like a complete blank.

I was wondering what is the difference between oily skin and sensitive skin. I thought they were pretty much the same thing-I thought it was just another way to sell a product to the public If I touch my face in a certain area I MIGHT GET A BREAKOUT THE NEXT DAY-I would just say to myself "Oh I must have sensitive skin and its oily too"--Whats the difference between sensitive skin and oily skin?

Heya all

Have mentioned this briefly before ie that I'd met Carole Maggio recently for a Facercise one on one and she had highly recommended her oily skin package (though didn't have any of the oily products on her). I've been meaning to get round to purchasing it but haven't as yet had time ....

If anyone has already used the Oily Package by Carole Maggio I'd be grateful to hear how it went for you and/or of course the Dry Package!!

I have oily skin and I have a simple way to keep it under control. I basically just use a bar of soap called Neutagena-oily skin formula and I use it everyday. I use it once a day when I take a shower. I think the more you use on your skin is the worst you can be doing exspecially if you have oily skin. When you have sensitive skin-oily skin you must be very gentle. I think the bar soap is much more inportant then the liguid soap that they offer. You should also be gentle when you are drying your face to-pat dry is inportant. I'm a guy so I probably use less then a woman might when having oily skin. I have just learned to be gentle and its been pretty good for me so far and I'm 29. I also use a medicine called erythamycin-benzamycen gel when I go to bed. It keeps the acne away and it also cools my face. The next morning my face feels refreshed and dry. I know later in the day it will get oily again but thats just the way it is with oily skin. You cant stop your skin from being the way that it is so just do what you can and deal with it. I think that this medicine I use is also in some strange way-a moisturiser to because I've been using this medicine for about ten years now and people tell me I look like I'm 20 and I'm 29. If you use this medicine and you have health insurance it will only cost you about ten or fifteen dollars and if you take care of it well and keep it in your fridge at a good tempature it should last about 3 months. Your supose to leave it in the fridge anyways-I didn't say that earlier. If you dont have health insurance it will cost you about 115.00. You need a prescription to get this medicine. IT WORKS WELL!!!

I occasionally use the Neutrogena Oil Free Wash and didn't realise that Neutrogena had a Cleansing Bar!!! Thx for sharing that!! I'll check it out :-)

Did a search for Topical Erythromycin and note that it's an antibiotic. The contraindications of use are on the website. The *regulars* on the board will know my personal view on antibiotics ie in that yes they do work; thou you pay the price for it after when eventually you come off ie in that your acne will worsen etc (mine did); and with antibiotics, your teeth (ie roots) become darkened which you'll note if you have your wisdom teeth out etc ... etc etc ... and for me personally if I know what I know now, I never would have taken antibiotics when I was a teenager and in my twenties cos when I stopped the acne came back worse (urrrgh)!! and you can't take it forever ... I was on tetracycline** for years; and then Dianette *** and when I stopped Dianette my skin which had been clear for years was oh so bad when I came off it and my periods were so irregular for a couple of years and I had to do a lot of internal cleansing and healing to *repair* my body with a homeopatist, kinesiologist etc and at the same time had to *put* up with the acne and skin condition while I was healing ... as eventually when you get older you want to heal your body and not surpress the acne etc ... you'll realise this when you're older (smiles) .... I'm 39 now ... older and wiser :-)

** Oh my gawd!! I just read that Tetracycline can cause blurred vision and hives - both of which I had during and when I stopped - argh!! Yunno the GP who prescribed it to me for all those years never told me any contraindications and just would get his pad out write a prescription.

***Geez, I just read the contraindications of using Dianette and none of these were advised by my General Practitioner when I took them for years; and I was so desperate I'd take anything and having clear skin was sooooooooo great! Geez, the internet wasn't around then - I sure wish it was!! I never had a check up or anything or was warned about any side effects. My advise to anyone out there is to not take it as it really isn't worth it especially if when you stop your skin condition gets worse ... though of course the decision is yours .... best wishes!!

Products for Oily, Dry & Flaky Acne Skin -- Just Me, 20:58:26 04/19/04 Mon [1]

Heya all

Thought I'd kick start the room by sharing what I personally use and find helpful in helping combat oily skin, dry and flaky skin that comes with having acne and/or using the acne medications etc etc

• Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Refiner : I find this helps with the flaky skin, that's not quite dry but nonetheless still flaky looking; possibly from using acne medications
  
• Clarins Instant Shine Control Gel : I find this helps with oil control and helping the skin look matt; though as mentioned before I find that my skin adapts to it eventually so I vary products to *trick* my skin (grins). It can be used over make up but I haven't tried that yet
  
• Clarins Face Treatment Oil "Santal" : I find this useful in helping to reduce the appearance of slight redenning and also *dry/flaky* skin. I know it's oil and I'm very wary of using it too often for fear that it will cause me to break out; but thankfully I haven't and my skin looks and feels wonderfully fresh the next day ... this one is supposed to be for *dry* skin
  
• Clarins Face Treatment Oil "Lotus" : This one is similar to the above and supposed to be for oily skin Helps normalise sebaceous secretions.
  - Helps "tighten" the pores.
  - Helps prevent moisture loss.
  - Nourishes and leaves skin supple and soft. I have only used it a few times (again cos I'm really nervous that my skin will erupt, though again it hasn't thankfully and my skin seems to like it ... not sure if it tightens the pores ... perhaps ... I haven't used it enough yet to judge (By the way, Clarins products are herbal and/or made from plants which is why I like them! Expensive though :(
  
• Clean and Clear blotting sheets : there are quite a few brands of these blotting sheets around. Effective !
  
• Clean and Clear Invisible Shine Control Powder : haven't used this but just saw it ... anyone else tried it?
  
• Corn Silk Loose Powder : I have used Corn Silk Loose Powder for years and it's been a life saver. The loose version doesn't cake, is translucent and it absorbs the oil for sure. Corn Silk do absorbing paper as well. I have used their foundation though hmm not so keen on it though having said that I haven't for years so perhaps it's changed; and they do a concealer as well. Reasonably priced and fairly cheap; easily affordable by teenagers and highly effective!

This is just a sample list that I use on a regular basis and would highly recommend, apart from of course the product above I said I hadn't tried yet ie Clean and Clear Invisible Shine Control Powder.

Oily Skin in your ears? -- Pat, 10:46:37 04/12/04 Mon [1]

Does anyone else get oil in their ears? I do and have done most of my life - every day I get oily ears I mean inside the ears and sometimes even acne inside the ears because of the oil and it really hurts. Strange place to get oil - I don't mean inside the ear drum but in the ear itself. I'm usually too lazy to clean it cos I forget about it and when I do I get spots/acne and then I look at myself in the mirror and notice my ears are oily and shining and it's embarassing so I have to clean them/ blot etc.

No solution I guess?

Hi all

This is 4 years overdue in the making in that when I created the Acne Scar Support Group in Cyberspace Forum specifically for Acne Scars, I also reserved a few other Voy Forums for other topics but never got round to building the rooms as it takes time. So here, 4 years later, better late than never.

This Board specifically focuses on oily skin that comes with acne ... I'm not too sure if everyone that has acne also has oily skin, I know I sure do; and it's a pain of my life cos I really haven't found a way to cure the oily skin; only manage it with mineral powder, oil absorbing paper by Corn Silk and a few other gimmicks / tricks that no doubt everyone will be sharing about ....
