A small, weary figure enters the Magic Box and heads straight for the comfy chair in the corner. She lowers herself slowly and gently, then maneuvers for a position that gives some ease to the stress-sore muscles in her back and neck. Taking a long look around the room, she sees she missed a party - albeit a sad one. "Farewell Angel" indeed. She also sees that someone has finally found a practical use for that pesky goat. He seems to have become incorporated into some form of wall art. Or perhaps he's a trophy. (Has Kung Fu been hunting again?) She waves to him and he waggles one hoof in dispirited reply. Promising him a sugar-infused treat before she leaves, she pulls a bottle from her pocket and removes the cork stopper. As she dusts the air of the shop with a little of the contents, time begins to backtrack - thus making her responses to old events much less huh?-provoking.

Hello and {{hugs}} to all!

Well, it's finally safe for me to return. I found another outlet for my need to rant. I've got a livejournal where I can complain about the Real World to my heart's content, thus sparing the good ol' Magic Box of negative vibrations. Now if I could just manage to write an email without going off on a RL tangent, I might become something passing for social again. Workin' on it.

I have some news you may have already heard: poor Mazzy had to undergo gall bladder surgery this morning according to Dogmeat, who is keeping The Barge posted on her progress. Let's keep her in our thoughts for a quick recovery.

As I'm still in total denial about "Angel" ending, I'm not going to discuss the finale. Two related items of note, however:
Drew Goddard will be writing for "Alias" next year - which will probably keep the poor man very busy since he will be dashing back and forth between that and ANGEL. :P
TV Guide has the "25 Top Cult Shows Ever" in next week's issue. "Buffy" was #3! (#1 was, of course, "Star Trek". "X-Files" was #2.) Yay Buffy!

A few responses, then I've got to scoot.

Dogtrot: "Against The Fall of Night" was written by Arthur C. Clarke. I understand this shorter version was expanded into the novel "The City and the Stars". There's also a sequel written by Greg Benford called "Beyond the Fall of Night".

Cudos on your poem. It was a fitting tribute to the passing of an era - as was the wonderful offering by our very own Lionhunter. You both rock muchly!

tarasApprentice: Thank you for sharing the hopeful news regarding "Wonderfalls" dvds. I have to admit, I haven't been active in that campaign. If wishes were horses however, my cavalry would be storming the offices of 20th as we speak. *g*

Hello and welcome to newbie Kevin! Y'all come back now, y'hear?

Kung Fu: Don't mean to enrage you further, but have you heard about the twisted version of "American Idol" that the WB is producing in place of quality programs such as "Angel" called "Superstar USA"? The so-called plot takes the worst singers they can find and proceeds to play the cruel joke of convincing them they're competing to be the next superstar. They kept the studio audience from booing them by saying they were terminal patients from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Television has truly hit rock-bottom. :(

Fire: I tried to post in your journal to tell you I was going to add you (so you would know who the strange person stalking you was), but I see you've become "friends only". If you want to venture into my dark and dreary world, follow the link above.

LotD: Congratulations on John Carpenter asking for a copy of "The Wide Game". I hope it results in something career-advancing. Unless he's just looking to expand his library for free. *eg*

Rack: I haven't seen you say much about "Tru Calling" recently. Did you watch the season finale yet? See, I was right to hate JP's character! And I just can't believe they did you-know-what to you-know-who! (Was that sufficiently vague in case you haven't seen it? *g*)

I'm rereading one of my favorite Miles Vorkosigan books right now. It's called "Memory". I love his character so very much! The way he turns his disabilities into assets by using the fear of being considered a lesser man to push himself beyond what an ordinary person could acheive is inspiring. This book goes far in completing him as a whole and balanced person, which is a journey he's been on since the start. Have you finished "Warrior's Apprentice" yet? If so, what's your final analysis?

Special {{hugs}} to Gothicwoman, Spikegood and Wednesday Adams!

Now I must run. But first...
Almond gets out of her chair and ambles over to the counter where Fire left the party treats. She chooses a couple of high-calorie specimens and feeds them to the grateful goat. Patting him on the head, she heads out the door.
