You continue to miss my point. There is nothing wrong with indigent care funds. The problem with the current system is we spend a lot of money on a system that does not provide what it should. You pay medicare taxes for 40+ years. Then when you reach 65, you are told that you must pay a premium out of you social security check, and then you find out that you need a supplimental policy. For every dollar we spend on medicaid, about a dime goes for actual services. The problem with these programs is the the government was never designed to handle them. If you want to have health insurance when you get old, buy a policy and if you want to take care of the poor give to charity. Did you know that most chrities operate with an overhead of 20% or less.

As far as you comments about taxes and the military, i'm not sure what I said to cause to think I would not support taxes or the military. National defense is mandated by the constitution and taxes is the only way the government can get the money needed to run this country. What I have a problem with is the government taxing me for programs that are not mandated by the constitution.

By the way if you read the paper, you know that the "rich" pay over half of all income taxes. However the people who really pay all taxes, and always will, is the consumer. Every time you spend a dollar you pay everone's tax. That includes the store where you spent it, the manufacturer who made it, and the rich who get the dividends. So, next time your congressman says he is going to increase the corporate tax rate, remember, that tax will eventually make its way to you.
