Taxpayers of municipalities DO pay for hospitals' ability cre for those who cannot afford it. Why do you think the state's charity hospitals are in such disarray? Budget cuts....who pays for that budget? Taxpayers. And by your rationalization, you'd revolt against the government, stop paying taxes, and refuse to help fund the U.S. military as well. You're right, the Constitution doesn't call for taxation, but in the 200+ years of our nation's history, nobody's come up with a better system of equalizing the tab.
