Comments: We should be getting close to ERG news soon. In the meantime my research tells me that ERG/PROTON business model is changing from one based on AFC to one of application development , business consulting and project management. The two demographics that ERG is targeting is (1) transit (2) Bank Cards (debit/credit). Increasingly the two will be interwoven. This will bring enormous synergies. I read somewhere that in a typical bank situation the following fees could be realized 1. License fee for the scard ($1 per customer 2. Annual maintenance fee …20% of the license fee 3. Implementation fees ?? The more I read about this scard business two things strike me: 1. How secure they are, 2. How much this security is sought after. The US is spending some $200B. Surprisingly the US seems not to advanced in this area. Europe is well ahead and PWI is a significant player in Europe. I feel that we are in for a fascinating year in 2003..
