National Express Invests In Smartcards

NATIONAL Express is hoping to obtain a new insight into its customers buying a 10pc stake in smartcard company Prepayment Cards Limited (PPL).

The transport company paid �4m for the stake in PPL, whose shareholders also include rivals Stagecoach and FirstGroup. The group aims to produce a system which will allow passengers to use the same ticket for journeys throughout the country, meeting government policy on integrated transport.
