] Date Posted: 15:19:01 12/22/13 Sun Anyone looking a classic pageant fix? If so, search You Tube for "Miss California USA contest of 1986." Among the contestants is Samone Stephens (spelling?), who was crowned Miss California (MAO) the following year. The CA USA winner was actress Kelly Parsons. Get this--there were 70+ contestants and all of them compete in swimsuits and evening gowns--and some of those gowns are classic! You can watch the entire pageant as its posted in five separate videos. Curious if anyone can spot other future/former Miss CA MAO contestants!! Good stuff! | [> [> Subject: LOL....you are welcome. A few weeks ago I also stumbled across the entire (either Miss Wisconsin or Miss Minnesota USA) pageant from the late 1980s--both the prelim show and the finals. Pageantry, big hair and questionable taste in gowns at their best! | |

| [> [> [> Subject: You must mean WI USA 1993. I have already devoured that one. Random CA USA swimsuit segments and introduction segments are available from the 80s/90s too. Rare to see a full pageant though. Please continue to share if you stumble across others. | |

| [> [> Subject: Someone on the USA board pointed out that the girl called as third runner-up was not among the original top 5 announced just minutes before. Apparently (off camera) an error was made and Summer Barthlowew announced something incorrectly. Google "Miss Tarzana USA 1986" and read the LA Times article. Apparently things turned ugly--even one of the judges said what a mess the pageant was. | |

| [> Subject: I was there! The pageant actually was excellent. The problem arose when Trudy Stoltz was announced a runner up and she was not even among the Top 5. It was resolved. At least they got the winner right. | |

| [> [> Subject: Curious...how was it resolved? I read a newspaper story online about the mix-up and it stated Stoltz was supposed to be in the top 5 but wasn't added until the actual runners-up were called...she stepped out of the crowd of also-rans and accepted her trophy. Meanwhile, when the first runner-up and winner were announced, that left one poor girl (who had been called into the top 5 originally) standing alone. Was Stoltz really the third runner-up or was that announced in error? | |
