| Subject: Here's a thought for pageant week | |
Author: Ernie Koneck [ Edit | View ] |
Date Posted: 09:02:07 09/10/13 Tue Mary McCaman rarely posts on this board, and probably doesn't even visit it much any more, sinch she seems to be the designated punching bag for all that is wrong in CA that's not Bob's fault. That said, Crystal has made it clear on at least a couple of occasions that Mary has had help with wardrobe from Connie Oliver and Jonna Aluisi, who either picked out wardrobe items, found sponsors or helped provide input into wardrobe decisions. If she weren't afraid of being attacked by a cyber-mob, she'd probably come on here and tell you herself. I realize many people on this board don't like Mary for whatever reasons. Fine, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I really think it's in extremely poor taste, and frankly, it's just a real downer, to have to read your bitching during Miss America week. So, if at all possible, could you refrain from any more anti-Mary comments for this week and save them until after the pageant's over. It's just 6 days. Write them down so you don't forget them and then unleash them all, if you must, on Sunday. I think Crystal would appreciate it. And if Crystal should become Miss America, a lot of out-of-staters are bound to visit this board, and California is going to look pretty foolish with a bunch of in-fighting to show them. So please, spend the next six days thinking happy thoughts and sending them to Atlantic City. That's a much better use of your spare time. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 10:22:46 09/03/13 Tue I have had 21 years in law enforcement and have been exposed to the low end of society so long that I had begun wondering if the younger generation was going to Hell. But, my daughter just became a Miss ******** and in meeting all the other young ladies, my whole perspective has changed. I say congratulations to the girls who are competing and especially to their parents who made it possible. We will see many of you in Atlantic City and it will be a great time for everyone. | Subject: Good News Ideas | |
Author: Marge the Moderator [ Edit | View ] |
Date Posted: 08:11:14 08/07/13 Wed SInce you seem to be a little challenged in coming up with ideas for good news, here are some to get you started: 1) Some of your titleholders have graduated from high school. What are their college plans? Schools? Majors? 2) Some of your titleholders have graduated from college. Career plans? Graduate school? Where? 3) Any current or former contestants getting engaged or married? Photos of attractive couples always welcome. 4) When's your pageant being held? Where? Might as well get some free publicity. If you want to let potential contestants know about orientation meetings or other events, you can do that here. 5) Any former titleholders up to anything interesting? People love hearing about it. 6) Have a fund raiser or other pageant event for your local coming up? Let people know. 7) Anything to brag about? Your titleholder or one of your local contestants was recognized for some achievement? You got a promotion at work? While some of this type of news may be on Facebook, or not, this is a great secondary place to put it. Here's why: This board has the Miss California name on it, and while the title includes the word "Unofficial" it is, like it or not, part of the Internet presence of the Miss California Organization. Everyone who posts can contribute to how the Organization is perceived by other state organizations and by the general public that passes thru - and that could include potential new contestants and their parents. So, more positive content can and will make a difference. Yes, there are issues, and yes, they can be debated here, because there is no other place people can debate them freely. But when doing so, please use your head and your heart. Try to err on the side of rational argument, not emotional ranting. Avoid name calling - it went out of fashion the minute you crossed the threshold from middle school to high school. Don't make accusations without some form of proof, and please don't say "I have proof" and then not offer it up. If you don't show the proof, even if it is only to me in an email, then I'm going to assume you're not telling the truth and take down your message. I hope you find this helpful.
