The Miss San Jose Outstanding Teen Program will be held on April 10 in the afternoon at Oak Grove High School in San Jose. In the evening, the Miss San Jose Pageant along with the Miss Gavilan Hills & Miss Northern California Regional Pageants will be held (Miss San Jose is structured local/Gavilan Hills & NoCaReg are open). On April 11 in the afternoon, the Miss Silicon Valley and Miss Bay Area Pageants will be held (open pageants). If you are a contestant, you have some wonderful opportunities to compete for your place on the Miss California stage. This is absolutely crazy! Why does Santa Clara continue to do more and more? Why don't they focus on their own reps and quit being so involved. Come On! 3 separate pageants in one weekend? What are they thinking. They cannot continue to take on more and more or they will burn out their volunteers. Take it from me -- I know. Thats why I quit. I was tired of being a worker-bee while everyone took all of the credit and praise for a job well done. It shouldn't be measured by how much or little you contribute to the effort, the point is that you do contribute. Sometimes we all feel overwhelmed. I am not certain why you are hostile towards the Santa Clara organization, but please take a closer look and you'll see that this restructuring is a simple modification of last years program. However, this year, they graciously invited Gavilan Hills/NoCaRegional to join them. If it is change that you are protesting, then the fault is with Gavilan since we are the new component. Try to help us out and see this as a GOOD thing for contestants. Not a Miss America since 1983 and she was a Texan! You would have to go back 55 years to get a real Miss America from California. That really is a pitiful record of winning the big one. Subject: The Miss California Pageant was televised throughout the 60's, 70's, and 80's. The Miss California USA Pageant was televised this past year. Has their been any talk about the future of having the Miss California Pageant televised again? We are the largest state in the union with almost 40 million citizens. It should be televised.

SOme of the comments have bordered on being mean-spirited. (What's new? It's a message board). That all being said, she does appear to wear a make up that is not very flattering and somewhat ageing. This of course is an easy fix, but someone would need to get to her quickly. The competition is soon to begin! April puts a lot of thought into her judges and most of the time they are selected well before she even knows who the contestants will be. She goes out of her way not to play favorites or even give the appearance of playing favorites. She bends over backwards for these girls, and has never refused to help any girl. If you are so certain that something "fishy" is going on, then believe in your accusation enough to at least sign your name. (NT) -- Jennifer Coffey, former Miss Sac committee member, 16:25:07 01/27/10 Wed Maybe if someone gets on here "every year", you should consider that as a hint. It's one thing for a panel to seem unfair one year, but if the panel is seemingly unfair every year, that's a red flag. -- It's ok. CA has strict rules about who can judge. 3 of your 5 judges have to be CA certified. The pool of certified judges, especially in Northern CA, is extremely small. CA would require a committee to put them up for 2 nights in a hotel, and having rooms comped is not always an option. If you are so worried about the same judges showing up over and over again, why don't you take it upon yourself to go through the judging certification process and become a judge instead of getting on an anonymous message board and just griping and moaning. Personally, I think you're attacking April because your "green" is showing.
