Enter the Hollywood Oscar Pool, sponsored by The Miss Hollywood/Miss Southland pageant, an official preliminary to Miss California and Miss America. Enter the pool for just $20 to get an official ballot and you could win $300! Proceeds benefit the Hollywood/Southland/Hollywood’s Outstanding Teen program. Here’s how it works: 1) Send the $20 entry fee to the Hollywood Southland PayPal account. 2) Receive your official Hollywood Oscar Pool ballot by return email. 3) Return the completed ballot by 12 noon PST on Sunday, March 2 to HollywoodMovieContest14@gmail.com 4) Receive informative tips and Oscar history from the Hollywood insiders. 5) Even if you’re not familiar with all the entries in a category, we recommend making a choice in every category. Let’s face it …. Some categories are tougher to predict than others. That’s why we’ve assigned different point values to different categories. 6) POINT VALUES: 1 point for a correct guess in each of the Big Six categories (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress). 2 points each for the Creative categories: (Best Animated Feature, Cinematography, Costume Design, Production Design, Original and Adapted Screenplay, Makeup/Hairstyling and Best Song.) 3 points each for the Technical categories (Original Score, Film Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects). 4 points each for the Have You Seen Any Of These? categories (Best Foreign Language Film, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film.) A perfect score is 59 points. 7) In the event of a tie, tie breaking will be determined by looking at the tied ballots by each of the four point categories, starting with the 4-point categories. If one of the tied ballots has a higher score based strictly on those categories, they will be the winner. If still tied, we will continue to the 3-point categories, then the 2-point categories.
