| Subject: I hope they're back to five, because a 3-contestant pageant really IS a horrible way to start the year, not to mention against the rules. Kudos to Lake County and Garden Grove who both seem to have lots of contestants - Teen and Miss. | |

| [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: I didn't attend, but my understanding is that MCO was very aware of the situation, and the Azusa committee and contestants knew the competition was not a Miss America preliminary well before the competition began. I believe an announcement to that effect was made on stage during the pageant. | |

Valeria Vasquez, an 18-year-old student at Cal State Fullerton, was crowned Miss Azusa, and Daisy Hooper, a 16-year-old student from Azusa High School, was crowned Miss Azusa Outstanding Teen. The duo participated in weeks of rehearsals and training ahead of Saturday’s Miss Azusa Scholarship Program pageant and were crowned by previous titleholders Miss Azusa Thao Huynh and Miss Azusa Outstanding Teen Synclair Gonzalez.
