This girl is seriously the coolest and most down-to-earth girl I know. If you haven't heard Katie sing before, you are truly missing out. I always look forward to hearing her talent. This girl can basically sing anything and I'm always telling her to not forget about us when she's famous! AND, on top of all this, Katie is the spokemodel for R.E.I.G.N, the national makeup sponsor for Miss America. Katie is SOOO beautiful and those eyes...so gorgeous. :) Katie is a great an awesome friend and I am SO grateful that MAO brought us together! Author: Marge The Moderator [ Edit \| View ]	Date Posted: 11:03:02 01/30/14 Thu I deleted the post about the San Diego pageant and their judging issues, as well as the comments about the field director Kathi Baldwin, and her alleged feud with someone named Kathi Hikawa. Look, I don't take sides - especially when I don't know the people. The only Kathy's I know are Kathy Bates (the actress), Kathy Griffin (the stand-up), Kathy Najimy (another actress), my cousin Kathy (recently retired, did something financial), and the girl who let me cheat off her in Russian class freshman year in college so I wouldn't flunk. Oh, and ex-model turned bedding and lamp designer Kathy Ireland. I would hope that the adults on this board can learn a thing or two or ten from the contestants who have been posting recently. Kudos to these young women for being willing to express themselves SANS ANONYMITY and to support each other unconditionally. The worth of this program, which I hold very dear, has just skyrocketed by the words and deeds of these young ladies, and I would like to add my praise to Leah Cecil Tibbetts for doing something magical to create the atmosphere that allowed and encouraged the class of 2013 to bond so closely with each other, and to Katie Wayland for having the guts to express herself forthrightly in a mature manner that didn't needlessly offend people. Please learn from them. They have much to teach. I check this board at least once a day in most cases, and sometimes several times a day. But work and real life occasionally intrude and some posts pop up and get out of hand pretty quickly. I can't sit and watch this 24/7, nor should I have to. Please clean up your acts. You have left numerous negative and untrue posting on this board, which makes YOU a major part of the problem with this board. I challenge you to do your job!!! Kimberly won interview and evening wear at Ventura, and did a great job in talent singing "I Surrender". The talent winner and 1st runner-up is a brand new contestant named Skye Privat who is one to watch. She sang "If I Loved You" for talent and was terrific; she's also drop dead gorgeous. I have a feeling we'll be seeing her in Fresno. Sarah won her second pageant ever at Yosemite. She was 1st runner-up at Hollywood and she's a strong all-around contestant and a very bright, sweet, goal-oriented young lady - a freshman at USC. Very happy for her! Also very happy to see Marina back on the Miss CA stage - one of my favorite contestants of recent years - gorgeous, talented and humble. Any one of these three would make a great Miss California. Just wanted to say how fun it's been to watch Crystal throughout her year of service as CA Teen and now CA Miss. It's pretty incredible how many opportunities she has had with the state of California and traveling. I've really enjoyed her IG account and updates. I'm pretty proud of California and their organization =) Consistently being a front runner at Miss America. I'm excited to see the batch of girls this year. Love me some California! Keep it up!

Among the contestants is Samone Stephens (spelling?), who was crowned Miss California (MAO) the following year. The CA USA winner was actress Kelly Parsons. Get this--there were 70+ contestants and all of them compete in swimsuits and evening gowns--and some of those gowns are classic! She has posted dozens of photos on facebook, twitter, and instagram and yet there is nothing on this board about it. Instead you have useless posts about replacing your ED, the late announcement of the swimsuit winners and other posts bashing volunteers and contestants. Your Miss California has made some very high profile appearances. She is doing some amazing things and you people have nothing to say about it? The local winners crowned so far show some promise and yet you have had very little to say about any of them that is positive. This board gives no indication of all the good things going in your organization because you people would rather tear each other down. Your problem is not your ED, it is you. I am issuing you Miss California fans a challenge. Post something positive and create a lengthy thread in response to the original post that keeps it positive.
