] Date Posted: 10:43:56 11/04/13 Mon I am glad to have seen some nice things in Fresno. I initially wasn’t going to be able to attend Fresno and was going to appoint another committee member to attend from our team, but I am glad I went. It may be the same thing year after year, but frankly I think it is good to regroup without the girls around so we are able to enjoy a team experience. Furthermore, I love seeing all of your faces year after year. This is a time to regroup and stay connected. For starters, Mikaela and Crystal made us so proud. Their stage presence and gratitude seemed unparalleled. Beautiful, articulate, relatable, and gracious. We had some innovative ideas from volunteers across the state this year. I am all for the new changes and ideas. Next up, Jenna Aluisi is a bundle of fun energy. After workshop I think we decided we will finally commit to starting a princess program this year in our local. Speaking of Jenna’s, I was shocked to see Jenna Harvey, former 1st runner up back as an ED for Gavilan Hills/Northern Ca. I remember speaking to her years ago about coming back as an ED, but didn’t expect to see her back so soon. I love seeing strong formers come back to be on our team. Additionally, I am thrilled more girls will have another chance to get to state since I heard Gavilan Hills wasn’t going to happen this year. At the meeting it was announced that the Jenna’s are teaming up to revamp the princess program. With young energy like these young girls, it will help us old folks keep the program sustainable. We appreciated everyone who spoke and took the time to put together presentations. Take a moment to reflect on how lucky we are. Life really isn’t so bad, and if people still want to complain about every detail, I hope they reevaluate their lives. I’d surely like to think everyone had just one thing to be thankful for this weekend. If you can’t think of anything then I feel exceptionally sorry for you. Teen talents are now only 90 seconds (praise the sky), and hopefully we can secure that car sponsor for our new Miss California. I, for one, am glad to have spent time with you all, I’m glad to be a part of this organization, and I’m glad to have such an organized and powerhouse state family. Whether workshop was redundant or not, thank you for yet another year of laughs, smiles, and memories everyone. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 12:59:22 11/04/13 Mon I, too, used to hate going to Fresno, year after year. We complained and groaned, but I eventually realized it just gave me too many wrinkles. I learned to get over my old misery and be happy with the way things are. Of course the food and Fresno is not the highlight of my life but the people who I care about are. I get wrapped up in my own life that I forget I'm not doing this for ME. I am doing this to help young women become educated. If all you care about is your time being swallowed up listening to others, and the inconvenience of having to drive all the way to Fresno, and your horrible life of being ruined by this program, then it's you, my friend who needs a reality check. Go ahead and look up "first world problems" to remind yourself just how awful your life must be during your stay in Fresno. Shame on you for degrading me for enjoying my time. Didn't your mother tell you if you have nothing nice to say then just say nothing at all? An anonymous forum is surely the only friend you seem to have. Complain to another human like a normal person and then get over it. Or just leave if you hate the experience and everyone so much. I promise, we'll be just fine. Jonna Aluisi knows how to throw a party! Now THAT'S a tradition I would look forward to every year. Bring on the wine. I've been a partner with our company for many years and the most effective way to keep up company morale is to regroup TOGETHER, in person, as a team. If anyone thinks that's not true, then they clearly have never run a business. Miss California is just as much about networking for volunteers, too. Could you imagine Rotary, Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, or Lions clubs handling meetings via email only? Come on, please. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
