That might have merit, but there are a lot of women who are completely comfortable around guns and that's been the case for a long time. My grandmother was a farmer's wife, and on a number of occasions she had to use a shotgun to chase off animals and once even a person. In rural areas especially, women being comfortable around guns is not unusual.

Heh. I think it's easy to see meaning in anything, but in this case the shape has more to do with function.
