Subject: New meanings of the colors, indeed, but they do make sense. I LOVE candles as well. And you know what, I respect them. Sounds weird, but Iīve been always afraid of fire. (maybe I was burned as a witch in a past life?*g*) Itīs destructive and can do so much harm. Having it in my home on a table, only a single flame which behaves nicely, is like having tamed the power of it, more than that, it`s like the spirit of the fire gives me the honor to enjoy its beauty without any harm. Maybe this is why it has been used for rituals for ages, because people respected the restrained power it holds, using that power for their intentions.

[> I find a burn a lot more candles in the winter months than the summer months, perhaps this is due to lack of natural light at this time of year? I love them (except the number of them that were on my birthday cake a few days ago!). Sometimes I will even turn the lights out in the house and light a bunch of candles so there is nothing but candelight illuminating the place. It brings about a sense of calm and peace...and with two busy kids, anything that can foster a sense of peace and calmness is much appreciated! -- Brenda, 16:54:22 09/01/03 Mon
