  I am bothered that Richard Smith let Bob Bourff run an illegal car in last Saturdays show. Everyone knew he was illegal and went and spoke to Richard and still nothing. Then Richard finally grows some balls and DQ's Bob for the night, BUT THEN TURNS AROUND AND PAYS HIM FOR HIS PLACE. This is BULLSHIT and I have lost all faith in the NMMA and Richard Smith is a punk ass coward. All of us there work to damn hard to get out and race and you give it to a cheater. Maybe Bob can go buy some boobs for his stripper girlfriend with the money he won.

  The season has just started and I have had enough! Grow up people. Complain about the scales. Did you know they were out for repair at a cost of over $100.00? Did the person who was crying on the internet volunteer to help or volunteer their scales? Would it be wise to set up a $1200.00 set of scales in the rain? The timing light did anyone stepfoward to help in any way by finding us a new system or volunteer to help us fix the old one. We messsed up we should have bought a transponder system and made everyone buy a transponder at a cost of $300.00 to $400.00. To the people complaining about not tecing enough. Why have you not volunteered to help in tec? When the races are over the work is not done. After a long day at the track starting at 7:00am who wants to stick around an listen to people complain? And when you do enforce the rules someone who Should be running the track because the claim to know more about the facts of what happend than I do gets on the message board and complain about how the tec. was handled. So One thing is for sure constructive critisim is expected and Ideas are welcomed but winnnning crying and cowardly hiding are not!!!!!! Think about this... One track to race at??? weekly pit pass $50.00 Purse with a full field $100.00 to win and only 1/2 the field gets paid. The rules??? you will find out when you break them and they are subject to changeat anny time? You complain or don't like it go somewhere else!! Oh there is no where else now you have a high dollar yard cart. Thank you to all who support us and volunteer to help. We do more with less in an effort to make it affordable for all. To those people who want to bitch and complain get your money out if you can do better because the track is for sale. But you won't because then you would have to deal with people like you!

  Just wondering if the scales are going to be used every week. Last year they were only used for the bigger races.They should be used every week! I know for a fact that their is several cars in every 600 class that can run under 750 pounds. If you are not using the scales than it gives them an unfair advantage over some of the cars that wiegh around 800 pounds with no wieght added. Hopefully you will use the scales every week!   Miami Co. Speedway will open its regular racing season Sat April 29th gates open at 3pm practice at 5pm. This will be a regular race except it will not be sanctioned so you do not have to be a member to run. • fuel system on an f3 -- kw archer, 18:11:01 02/21/06 Tue
  I need a little information on an f3 fuel system. running on gas at the moment. Ihave not put the alk. carbs on yet.
  The car seems to fall off after warming up. runs fine when cool, and has good revs. when warmed up sounds as though it is either flooding out or starving. but will idle, I also have to start it whith the choke when it is warm.

  We would like to invite all midget racers to the Brickyard Crossing Inn next to the Speedway on March 6th a Monday night for a meeting about Midgets at Kokomo and other Indiana tracks.
  We also would like to invite all 600 car owners and TQ's as well. We plan to run one of those classes as our second class.
  
  We will meet between 6:30 and 8:00 Pm which is when the Racin' with D.O. webcast show will start on www.monksmedia.com. Needless to say we will be updating the world with what was talked about eariler that night.
  
  We want everybody who has a question or interest to be there si we can answer them.
  
  Then that will be talked about is :
  Tire Rules yes or no ?
  Racecievers mandatory or not.
  Most rules will mirror rules already in place by many groups.
  
  Make sure to attend as this series is being put together for the racers abd we want to listen to your thoughts. Kokomo Speedway and other track owners will be there too.
  
  March 6th Monday at the Brickyard Crossing Inn & Resort on 16th st near the second turn of the Speedway. Food will be available along with drink as we are holding this in the main dining room overlooking the golf course.

  TQ midget frame, I think it could be used for a 600 car. Has spuds on top for wing. Needs some work and some paint. Main rails are straight. This car was flipped and the front and rear spuds need to be replaced. Has rear and front bumpers and nerfs, spares of each and some spare odds and ends to go with it.   311 booths was the final tally, filling 2 buildings that covered 69,000 Sq. Ft.!!! By all accounts, the people in those booths left happy!!!

  On the subject of trailers: The Fairgrounds does not allow trailer parking of any kind in the general parking area. If you do show-up with a trailer, you must park it inside the race track, between turns 3 & 4 (there is tunnel access). This is an Indy Fairgrounds policy, and it applies to all shows, vendors, and spectators. They do not make exceptions to this rule for anyone!! Call us if you have any questions.   The last couple of years we have tried to add a "little extra" to the show. First we were fortunate enough to have J.J. Yeley! Last year we had a very entertaining/informative Rountable that featured Dave Argabright (host), Floyd Bailey, Scott Benic, Bob East, Earl Gaerte, Rollie Helmling, Larry Rice, and Jiggs Thomason that was broadcast live on Monk's Media! This year, we're going to turn it over the "experts". In other words D.O. is gonna do it... That's right, this year we are going to have the Racin' W/D.O. Legends Round Table presented by H.A.R.F.!! To give you an idea where this is going, the first two names we'll let out are: Stormin' Norman "Bubby" Jones, and Kevin Thomas!! Get your questions ready, and stay tuned for furture announcements as to who will be on the Round Table!!

  Rules/General Car Specifications
  
  
  
  Roll Cage – must be at least 1” ” .085 thickness, or 1 1/8” .065 thickness, or 1 ¼” .065 thickness and made of chromoly steel or equivalent. Roll cage must be a minimum of 3” above driver’s helmet. All edges must be rounded, no square or pointed edges allowed. There must be a cross brace installed behind the seat to support the shoulder harness.
  
  
  
  Bumpers – cars must have bumpers extending beyond the front and rear tires. Nothing may extend beyond a tangent line from the outside edge of tires to the bumpers. No sharp corners or design as to hook or damage. Nothing may extend beyond the outside edge of the tires or wheels, whichever is widest.
  
  
  
  Nerf Bars – all cars must be equipped with nerfing bars that do not extend beyond the outside edge of tire or wheel, whichever is widest.
  
  
  
  Tread Width – Maximum tread width is 52”, minimum is 32” from center to center of tires.
  
  
  
  Wheelbase – Maximum wheelbase is 70”, minimum is 50”, center of front axle to center of rear axle.
  
  
  
  Rear Wheel Drive – only. No front wheel drive cars allowed.
  
  
  
  Bodies – All cars must have complete bodies and be “sprint car” in design. Bodies must be made of aluminum, metal, fiberglass or high impact plastic.
  
  
  
  Fuel Tanks – All fuel tanks must be equipped with a one way check valve designed to prevent spillage of fuel from the fuel tank vent in the event of a rollover.
  
  
  
  Numbers – All cars must have legible numbers on nose, nose wing (if applicable), each side of tail tank, each side and top of wing (if applicable). If track scorers have issue with reading numbers and/or scoring a car, they will promptly advise driver/owner and recommend a temporary solution for the evening. All cars must have the drivers name somewhere visible on car.
  
  
  
  Ballast – All ballast must be firmly attached as a part of the cars structure and painted with the car number. No liquid or loose ballast such as water, rocks, sandbags, etc. will be allowed.
  
  
  
  Traction Control Devices – Strictly prohibited in all classes. They may not even be present, but disconnected.
  
  
  
  Belly Pans – are mandatory from the leading edge of seat up to the throttle/brake mounts and must be sufficient to insure drivers feet will not come into contact with the racing surface itself. Belly pans must be mounted with dzus fasteners or bolted on.
  
  
  
  Belly Pans – are mandatory and must extend from 6” in front of drivers feet to the front edge of seat. Belly pans must be mounted with dzus fasteners or bolted on.
  
  
  
  Chain Guards – are mandatory and must be of sufficient strength and width so as to protect driver. The intent of this rule is only to protect driver from being able to reach the chain with his/her hand while in the car.
  
  
  
  Top Wings – Mandatory in all classes except wingless. The only exception will be in the event of a rollover where a replacement wing is unavailable to finish that event. Wings may not extend beyond the outside edge of rear tires. All wings must have a rolled edge – no sharp edges. No wood except for ribs or spars inside center section. Wing must be installed so as not to obstruct drivers vision regardless of wing position.
  
  
  
  Fuel – Methanol, Ethanol, Gasoline and Racing Gasoline. Absolutely no performance enhancing additives allowed. Anyone caught running “hot” fuel will be indefinitely disqualified from the entire series. The UMSRA recommends anyone running gasoline to have a “bladdered” fuel tank.. Absolutely NO pressurized gases (nitrous, etc.) allowed.
  
  
  
  Transmission – Any type motorcycle transmission is legal. All shift levers must be located inside the driver’s compartment.
  
  
  
  Radio Communication - is strictly prohibited on the track.
  
  
  
  Rearview Mirrors – are strictly prohibited.
  
  
  
  Chain Driven – All engines must remain chain driven off of the original countershaft.
  
  
  
  Tires/Wheels – any tire and wheel combination may be used, but tires may not exceed twenty-three (23) inches in height.
  
  NON-WING classes: No top or front wings. Wing trees must be removed. No extended side panels. All cars subject to track officals inspedtion and approval.
  
  600 Restricted class- Right Rear tire must durometer 50 within 15 ninutes of the end of the event. Ages 10 to 16 years old.

  270 class-600 pounds
  600 Restricted class-750 pounds

  My name is Mark Osborne, and I, along with an older brother are writing and illustrating a book about the hometown dirt track that we grew up going to between 1957 and 1977. It was Sumter Speedway, in Sumter, South Carolina. I have completed to date, some eighty paintings that will be in our book, along with factual accounts, and stories from the drivers themselves. If you've ever listened to an older driver, you will know that their stories are captivating.
  
  One reason that we are writing this book, is to show the younger generation what the cars looked like that raced in the days before the front wheel drives, power steering and automatic transmissions. We want to honor these great men, who today are in their 60's, 70's and 80's. Some sadly, are even gone today, and hopefully winning races at Heaven's Speedway. We want their grand children and great grand children to know just talented their granddads really were. They cannot and should not ever be forgotten.
  
  These gentlemen paved the way for the superstars of today, while driving their Coupes and Coaches, Tudors', Bel Airs', Falcons', Chevelles' and Novas'. They shifted gears and took the turns sideways, all with the power that their own shoulders could muster. They wore T-shirts or overalls, with Keds, boots and even Penny Loafers. They were invincible. They were heroes to kids like us. They packed in the crowds back then, and made Saturday nights the only place a kid would want to be.
  
  I wanted to show our prospective publisher that our book will be for everyone in America, and that the dirt track fan would be interested in it, regardless of where the book actually is written about. If you, the fan would be interested in seeing our collage of colorful old time race cars depicted in races, wrecking and even burning down the front stretch, please reply to this letter. • Track Points Vs. Region 1 Points -- Reg. 1 Secretary, 21:29:59 09/19/05 Mon
  Some people have contacted me and want to know why there is a difference between Track points and Region points. Here is the explanation:
  
  Track Points are determined by the total of ALL Miami County Speedway races (no drops).
  
  At the Region 1 meeting in March, the members voted to determine the region points by adding a driver's best 13 (out of 15) weekly races and the driver's best 2 (out of 3) championship races.

  Please keep in mind that the Region Points Championship is calculated a little differently than the Track Points Championship. Region Points are determined by a driver's best 13 weekly races and best 2 championship (region, state, memorial) races added together. • Update -- C., 21:53:20 09/12/05 Mon
  Just got home from Indy and thought I'd better give everyone an update on Dwayne. Yesterday, the day after surgery he seemed to be doing pretty well and the Dr. said if he kept improving and his ballance got better he might let him come home on Tue. insteat of going to rehab. Today however he wasn't doing very well. He spent most of the day sick and hasn't been able to keep anything on his stomach. His walking is also not doing what they want and his left hand seems to be drawing up more than it did. The Dr. is now talking about rehab again. Not real sure they will even let him out of Methodist yet. They are having trouble controling his diabetis and have put him on 2 kinds of insulin. I have been leaving here early in the mornings and not returning until late so for all of you who have left messages I will get back to you as soon as I can. Will keep you all posted. Connie

  I just got home from Indy and thought I'd give everyone an update on Dwayne. He has been admitted to critical care at Methodist hospital in Indianapolis. He will be having emergency surgery in the morning and in about 4 hrs I'm heading back. From what I understand they were afraid his respritory system would shut down because of the paralisis he has. He will spend the next few days in critical care then be transfered to a rehab hospital in Indy for 2 to 3 weeks then back to Methodist for a second surgery. Will keep you all posted.

  You Guys have a nice facility but your track prep has alot to be desired. You water it well, but you wheel pack it tear it up, wheel pack it tear it up, by this time the moisture is gone, you have that nice rotor plow you guys can make a nice top groove but you don't go down far enough in the corners, you should go down almost to the rubber line.if you don't then the groove get pushed up and you have cars like the 15 get tore up because the groove in the corners is out further than the wall. this is uncalled for because nobody wants there stuff tore up!!
  The other thing is if you guys would water the track as much as the pits the track would be great!!

  I don't know if anyone else noticed Richard Smith yelling at and chasing off the people standing at the orange baracade fence on Saturday night. I actually witnessed him doing this. No, those people shouldn't be able to stand there and watch the race for free, but there is a better way to handle the situation. Yelling at them to get back behind the white fence was so rude. If this is such a problem, then move the money taking booth to the white gate. Problem solved! I was appalled at Richards behavior, no wonder interest in our race track isn't growing...Richard Smith is chasing them all off!

  First...how hard is it to look underneath a car with a white chassis to see if there's oil all over it? I think it would've been pretty easy to pull me in the infield to a spot in the dry dirt and look to see if there's anything dripping. When you send me off the track obviously there's no way for me to return to the track.
  Second...64 car in the A class heat takes out the leader...gets his spot back. 5 car in the multi heat makes a car flip...gets his spot back. Both obviously causing the caution/red flags. Judgment calls at this track are a joke if you're not in the clique or don't have family in the booth! The 33 car wouldn't have been spun if they would've lined him up where he belonged ! He got his spot back and was stopped on the track. Not so long ago in the restrictor feature the leader was spun in an obvious manner and they both went to the tail. Where is the consistency?

  This is a young, new track owner extremely interested in promoting micro sprint racing in Michigan. If at all possible, please try to make the trip up on Friday night and let him know we want to race with him next season! He has also talked about running an "economy sprint" (305's) which could work awesome with the micro's!!! Unfortunately we will not be able to attend this race as we will be in PA on the UMSRA Tour Races, but we did visit last weekend! This will be an awesome opportunity for all of us RACERS.

  600 sawyor chassis
  Open motors with a lot done to them. One extra motor missing a oil pan. i purchased it about 6 months ago and was talked into letting a good driver run it last week. It ran 2nd in heat and 7th or 8th in feature. Not bad for needing two more teeth on the rear for track conditions. The driver made the difference but the car is good.
