Subject: Yes, I agree with most of the posters here. I certainly enjoyed generally, it all far more outside the Premier league, which is why I enjoyed Wigan so much this season....the yearly quest just to avoid failure and be mid table feels a bit pointless at times. But my point really was that driving back from Torquay all those years ago, I think I would have been very happy with 8th in the Premiership.

  • The comparison should really be with the sixties and our 12 year stint in the old 1st div. Same as now we weren't going to win anything back then and the big clubs dominated as they do now. The difference for me is that it felt more real back then. At the Cottage I constantly hark back to the old days and that includes the so called bad old days. My reason for attending now is because I'm living the past. (NT) -- Hammersmithender, Saturday, May 10, 10:17:17am (NoHost/31.94.74.244)
  • Possibly in the naivety of youth I always thought we only needed a few more quality players to be contenders.Macedo,Cohen,Langley,Mullery,Haynes and Leggat was a fine core.Instead we sold Mullery and the decline began. Most teams had a chance in those days.We should have beaten Burnley and played Spurs at Wembley.
