As you indicate, we weren't really out of any games against teams above us all season. As many have noted, the great AND infuriating thing is that we balanced that by too often having off-days against teams below us. We managed to ensure that nearly all games this season were competitive, whether we wanted them to be or not, as shown by the bizarre stats of us being almost top of the table both in points gained from losing positions and points lost from winning positions. - That last part (so very weird) adds to the impression of the kind of season that won't easily repeat, just as Spurs and ManU plus *all three* promoted clubs can hardly be expected to be quite so bad again. And then with Palace, Wolves and Everton all having stronger new years than us...fresh impetus looks needful just to stay nice and safe.   - Those "glamour" performances should perhaps particularly be seen alongside our results against three very poor promoted sides from whom we garnered only three victories and 12 out of 18 points. Although the sun is not shining on Devon this morning, the optimist in me thinks those results could offer a buffer when comparing results against next season's newbies, which as you suggest are likely to be stronger…………well, it is optimism of a sort!
