• I think with a club like ours it's never going to be the future looks bright. We are always under threat of players/managers leaving for greener pastures. It will always be hard for us to improve on mid table. I'm personally content with that rather than expecting more or fighting relegation. Those bad decades still linger in my memory.   • Are you serious? A couple of hesitations in how many games?! He has been a vast improvement on Castagne (who it turned out was injured) and is one of the most underated full backs in the league. Thought we'd lose him when he had some incredible stats showing just how good he was, but luckily for us got injured. It's important we keep him.     • I don’t quite get the tete love, in that yeh he’s a decent, solid prem player, but not much more than that and personally feel we need more in an attacking sense to balance us on that side, I think he has 1 maybe 2 assists from 20+ starts, although I accept it’s part tactical. Schade had him on toast, he’s a fighter and smart player but only fit for 50% of games and feel lamptey or KWP would offer more from RB. • Hope your optimism is justified. Squad wise we have a lot of old highly paid players. Looking at smaller clubs I would say Brentford and Bournemouth are in better positions and BHA who arguably are now bigger than us are streets ahead in terms of personnel. I think we have the best manager or level with Bournemouth. Overall I think we start with a lot worse cards than our mid and upper mid table rivals. Palace included.     • But that’s the model, selling players needs to be seen less negatively, it’s good if someone comes in and gets sold for big £££, it means they’ve done well, recruitment is going well and the team is benefitting. Everyone loses players, TAA just signed for Madrid. Without decent sales last 2 years our budget would have been peanuts, we’d potentially have failed FFP. They’ll sell, get big profit and reinvest and improve, same as when solanke, Toney, Watkins etc got sold. • From the perspective of our history, I'm happy. But evaluating the managerial performance I'm not delighted. Thought I would be but can't escape the concern that we've not developed as we should have despite solid backing. 1st season up, we finished 10th on 52 points, 55 goals scored, 52 conceded, +2 goal difference. • There's been wafer-thin stat difference between our three prem seasons, but (as an impression), in this one alone did we show against all the glamour clubs. Less happily, none of the big-money signings improved under Marco (a first) while the many past improvers appear, understandably, to have peaked.   • As you indicate, we weren't really out of any games against teams above us all season. As many have noted, the great AND infuriating thing is that we balanced that by too often having off-days against teams below us. We managed to ensure that nearly all games this season were competitive, whether we wanted them to be or not, as shown by the bizarre stats of us being almost top of the table both in points gained from losing positions and points lost from winning positions.
