Tbh, whilst obviously 'city' rivals, i tend to find support of the Bristol Clubs is completely geographical, with surprisingly less overlap than you'd expect. Bath side of Bristol, and the weston corridor (ie, pretty much Southwards) = Bristol Rovers. North, and East of Bristol = Bristol City. -- SW6.doc

But that geographical Rovers segment might be City fans if there was no rival. There's also the rugby element, I guess from Clifton and the leafier suburbs. A combination of Rovers and the rugby fans might be why City have never cemented a place in the top division. Um, you're more local than me, but I've fans of both clubs as old friends and lived there too for nine months. Surely City have the Somerset catchment, with northwards more mixed. Stadium positions a partial clue. - Can only go by my experience. My wifes family is all bath side, and they're all Rovers.     - City massively dominate S Bristol although there are more Gas than you might expect in postwar estates like Knowle West and Hartcliffe. Gas traditional heartlands are in the east. Eastville, Easton, St George, Whitehall, Kingswood, Warmley, Hanham, Mangotsfield etc. You'll find more City than Gas in N and NW Bristol these days. Plenty of City even in Horfield, Ashley Down, Bishopston etc. Much more City support than Gas in Somerset.
