I think it safe to say that he did. He made 10 starts and got very few starts in the 2nd half of the season even though his injuries only caused him to miss 10 games. That means that at some point Castagne made the position his own to a certain extent whereby Tete was back from injury but on the bench. -- SW6.doc

- I just don't see it with Tete being so much better than Castagne. He's good. But to me he's one of those players who looks better than he is simply because of his athleticism. He gets caught out of position but then gets back with a big tackle or block. As he ages, and particularly with his injury history, I don't think he'll age well. And also don't really see him now as better than Castagne. Better at some things - e.g. tucking in as 3rd CB - worse at others (eg crossing).   - I guess it is all about opinion. Personally I don’t think there is any aspect of FB play that Castagne is better. Accept concerns about not only his injury record but how long it takes him to get back to full fitness. But happy for him to re-sign since I think we have far greater priorities .   - I agreed tete is ok, but for a modern full back very limited as a threat from RB, but he has that fight and connection with fans which has elevated him to looking better than he is. Towards end of season he was regularly losing 1v1 battles (normally his strength), schade took him to the cleaners. I’d file cast and tete in similar, ok but limited full backs, but probs 7/8 better RBs than them in the league.     - 100% agree. Seems like the club is happy with what we've got now that Tete has just signed for 3+1 more years! I like him. I like Castagne. So I'm fine with all that. Just because he is on the bench it doesn't always mean he is at full fitness. Let's look at it this way. At the start of the season, when both players are available, Tete has always been picked ahead of Castange. You have your opinion. Marco Silva has his.
