Subject: Doesn't reflect my experience at all. We've absolutely grown there because of our American players. I've seen the spread 1st hand over 20 years of intermittent living there in various regions, cities and suburbs, of Fulham, the Premier League and football generally. And I've seen how Americans spend on merch and tickets in a way that'd make an Englishman blush. Also 2nd choice 23 y/o could become 1st choice quickly, plus Pepi could open a new very large, very passionate demographic market.
In reply to: Henry1879 's message, "I don’t believe being known as the US prem club with Clint, boca, McBride etc has moved us further along than a BHA or Palace and I don’t think the World Cup will be much different to USA 94, pockets of interest maybe. I don’t agree buying a second choice CF will move the dial in any way, it’s not like Son signing for spurs, I just think the club see him as Rauls successor, which I can’t see yet given his physical stature, but hope I’m wrong." on Friday, March 20, 07:08:35am

  • And between WC '94 and '26, the landscape has night-and-day changed. Go to any American suburb of a weekend and you'll see football being played EVERYWHERE! It can be more rabidly competitive in kids soccer than the US trad kids sports. Parents run ragged. MLS attendance is averaging 26k per match now. Viewership is growing like mad for MLS AND foreign leagues (as I say, Prem alone now equal to UK). Even women's professional teams, with 14 clubs now valued at around $2bn. Different world. • I have no crystal ball so I don't know what the effect will be, but the whole Internet/social media picture has changed massively even since the days of Clint etc...if he does well at the WC it could be a great move for us.
