*Muniz: 66 minutes played, 4 Aerials Won, 15 Touches, 28.6% pass accuracy.
*Raul: 40 minutes played, 3 Aerials Won, 11 Touches, 37.5% pass accuracy.

Basically Raul was on pace for pretty much the same stats here as Muniz. To me, this is an indication not of their respective quality (or lack thereof), but of one core truth that has been present all season: our forwards are left ridiculously isolated. To get more into the game, Raul has to drop so deep he's often in and around our penalty box. Muniz hasn't figured out how he can get more in the game other than continuing to smash around. Neither is ideal.

The solution has nothing to do with those two players, it's our system. We have got to find a way to control midfield without dropping literally all of our attackers into it.

With Iwobi possibly out, neither Bobb nor Chuck suited as left wingers, and and positive performances by Lukic and Cairney yesterday, my solution is as follows: a midfield three of Cairney - Berge - Lukic; a front three of Sess - Muniz/Raul - Wilson, with Sess and Wilson told to stay higher and tighter into the box than usual. Lukic on the right of the midfield three can provide more cover defensively allowing us to use Castagne as the more bombing right back that he is suited to.

The result: a team better able to control midfield and provide cover defensively for bombing full-backs; three finishers always in-and-around the box for the crosses they put in. Less close control and guile around a packed penalty area. But as its not exactly been helping us of late anyway having those players (ESR, Bobb, Chuck) I don't see that as a particularly big loss.

Agree re; Muniz/Raul; gave both nothing to work with, fiddle around with it or hit it long into CF with 3 def near, none of our support within 20 yards, good luck with that. To add weight, B.ford gave Thiago nothing and one of the better CFs in the league was gobbled up by Anderson/bassey. We’ve become more and more negative tactically/mentally, we have the feel of Arsenal, balance is wrong where we are so concerned about defensive structure we don’t take risk, set pieces also woeful again. - Standard with Silva these past three seasons: he either goes with two hybrid 10s and we're too open, or with DM + Lukic and has everyone play too defensively. He needs to find the balance and a way to get more good finishers in the box regularly while controlling midfield. I think this might work. On set pieces, it's almost as if we approach with no plan (either attacking or defensively). One idea I have: stop having Wilson anywhere near left-corners. Position him on the right-edge of the box. - Is any more proof needed ? Both AI ‘characters ‘ ( or maybe one of the same ) having a conversation wit each other ; with just enough disagreement to constitute discussion between them and any others gullible enough to think they’re real people .   - Every couple of months one Mickey makes a point like this, alanos comes along and agrees, they find common ground for about five minutes, then they descend into attacking each other. While they both have fanciful theories and notions they cannot shake, their beliefs are mutually incompatible and they can't help constantly stating them. Looking forward to it happening again. - Indeed. Less so this year. But he's absolutely one of the better finishers in the team and has great movement and ability to find space. Profiles a bit like the fox-in-the-box of old. That's why I'd like to see him played in this more narrow system, closer to the striker. Think there'd be more goals with both him and Wilson allowed to play closer to the striker and both full-backs allowed to bomb on and cross. It has seemed recently that he's been shuffling the pack without real conviction or masterplan, hoping that something will somehow click. Not yet. Possibly suggestions above might do so. - Talent's there, not the consistency. The league adapts quickly, so Marco makes a change which works, but only lasts a short time before that change is countered. Then he rethinks. I think he struggles with staying true to a set of principles and prefers to be able to tactically adapt, hence why we invest in a deep squad of experienced players. Ultimately he's been getting a bit too tinkerman for me, but if you think back across the seasons the pattern is clear in terms of his management style.   - Emphasizes how inexplicable our underinvestment in that area of the park is. Even in January when we signed Bobb, Marco clarified that his need for central midfield support that he said we didn't deal with in the summer was met as it allowed Iwobi to replace Andreas. Not replacing Andreas was his problem. We never seem to prioritize beefing up the engine room.     - Tbh ive lost a huge amount of sympathy for silva on this particular matter in recent weeks due to his weird refusal to play lukic, who then comes back and is probably our best player over the last 135 minutes. He’s had possibly our best, probably our most versatile of the midfield options available since the west ham game and has refused to use him.       - Yes. I think many assumed that his statements in the summer related to a fairly to buy a No. 8. But his actions and words have never indicated a desire for one. Every year he's tried to shift to two-10s around a DM (23/24, Cairney and Andreas; 24/25, ESR and Andreas; 25/26, ESR and Iwobi) before eventually reverting (Pal+Lukic in 23/24, Berge+Lukic last season).
