Many of the comments are bordering on rude about Silva. Our longest serving boss since Jezzard in the 50's/60s, I'm not sure he's deserving of the abuse he's getting. No comparison to Watford as he's had offers, knocked them back and is now the 6th longest serving manager in the top leagues in Europe. It's not like we haven't performed under him either. We've fallen off badly agreed, but we spent the second least in transfer window (and bottom 2 over last 4 seasons). Maybe he want's guarantees? -- SW6.doc

I mean you're just throwing out statistics that are just plain wrong. Our net transfer spend over the last 4 seasons is higher than a third of the teams and comparable with another 3 or 4. We've also spent more on salaries than half the league. He's been backed better than any manager in our history. - He’s been generously backed with funds and in his choice of player , but how about a System that identifies talent which he can further improve and for far less than the fees thus far spent . There are more ways of backing than just supplying funds to whoever your Manager fancies . If you have a manager who has seen 100m of players sold to fund 100m of players coming in, or a manager who has had to sell no one, but has brought in 100m of players, who has recieved more backing?       - But thats irrelevant. He’s had two, three players sold. Iraola, for example, has had about 15. Using gross figures is a complete red herring as you only get half the story.   - Net spend is the whole show! The reason we had such a high net spend is because we rarely sold anyone. And you will recall how much of a big deal he made about having to sell Mitro and Palhinha. And how much he demands Premier-league proven and experienced players vs younger investments. The man has been hugely backed and with players that each time he's taken credit for ("I pushed for him...") yet is constantly whinging in public.
