Subject: What price consistent stability?

I almost wish we hadn't won today because the table is brutal, especially considering the two matches that came before today.

I can't help but always look to compare us to Forest and Bournemouth. I think it is useful to compare the three as we are the most "alike" in terms of our time in the league and, therefore, years with full Premier League payments. It hurts in particular to see Bournemouth get into Europe, meaning that of the three teams that came up together, we're the only ones yet to make it into Europe. But, for all their success, it is interesting to see total performance over the four seasons we have been up. Here's how a total table of us three clubs looks:

1. Fulham: 205 points, 211 goals scored, 219 goals conceded, -8 goal difference.
2.Bournemouth: 200 points, 207 goals scored, 246 goals conceded, -39 goal difference
3. Forest: 179 points, 193 goals scored, 232 goals conceded, -39 goal difference.

No, that doesn't tell the whole story. Bournemouth have been getting progressively better since Iraola took over, while Forest have been very boom and bust with one incredible season, and we've kind of just stayed the same. But over the four years we've gained more points, scored more goals, conceded fewer than both of them. And I think that's pretty remarkable given the common perceptions of club performance. So whatever happens now, we can't really deny that the combination of our clubs management (I.e. the triumvirate of TK, Ali Mac and Marco) have engineered a very impressive, if somewhat dull, period of consistent stability. Right now I'd swap what we have with what Bournemouth has in a heartbeat. But this could very well be Bournemouth's high point, with difficult seasons to come, while we could very well keep trundling on in mid-table consistent security. I think I'm OK with that. So, Marco, one more year please!
