Subject: So questions for Henry and others that defend Fulham’s spend.

1) We have very little headroom for significant signings yet stand to lose Raul and desperately need a striker as Muniz has averaged a goal every 900 minutes this season, where’s that money coming from?
2) Wilson looks set to leave on a free and Oscar Bobb looks way off from replacing that goal threat on the right so where will Wilson’s goals come from?
3) Other than Josh King who could we sell for any real profit without having to spend more to replace?
4) Who’s going to provide goals from the number 10 position with ESR failing miserably in that department?
5) with a squad of just 24 players with at least two leaving on a free where’s the money coming from to replace them.
6) without player sales will we rely on free signings on high wages further eating into our margins for further younger talent?
7) with an inability to identify, attract and bring in exciting emerging talent for immediate impact in our first team squad(aka Brentford, Brighton, Brentford etc) how do we provide profit to replenish our squad in future seasons, considering the age of our current squad?
8) if we can’t spend enough to move forward or sustain current performance levels how do we keep Silva or replace him with a worthy alternative?
We have a systemic problem with how we build and manage our squad and if we don’t have the ability to spend more then we have to spend better!

- He's not our greatest manager, though is he? Why are you stating that as fact? Coleman, Jol, Hughes and Hodgson all led us to higher league finishes on a fraction of the spend (even in relative terms). Hodgson took us to a major final and a record high league position, Tigana took us to an FA Cup semi, Silva has failed to match any of these achievements. Stock took us to a major final too. I don’t disagree, for several seasons I’ve said we are buying the wrong players and backing ourselves into a FFP corner with high wage, ageing players with diminishing value, anderson, cast, traore etc they’ll do a job, probs keep us safe but they soak up FFP room and don’t offer a way out to sell and reinvest. My gripe is people saying we don’t spend enough; don’t support the manager, we spend to the limit what we can and give him signings he wants, we give him too much if anything. - It seems like we were ready to buy Peppi and sign Chukwezi permanently - £60M. Releasing Raul and not offering Wilson what he wants reduces our wage bill. What's needed is young talent we can develop - not yet too expensive and resale value to come. It's not too late to change the recruitment policies. It would be nice to think that's the discussion that's due to take place next week. Sadly I doubt it. Any successor now or later will expect a certain degree of competency and most cert a full-time DoF whose priorities are not elsewhere . 8) is the crux. To do better within the rules we need regularly to sell at a profit, as the 'B' clubs do. By definition that tends to mean losing players supporters would wish to retain, a downer we probably need to experience more often. I’ve no doubt that running a club under greater scrutiny is a complicated task. But it seems we don’t learn lessons. We need a mix of experience, emerging talent with upside with a two to three year recruitment plan. Buying last minute dot com not only unsettles preseason (putting us in the back foot) but more important doesn’t indicate a mid to long term strategy. Now if I’m wrong and we aim to buy at £30m and sell at £60m then we are failing because King aside our squad has devalued. - I thought the same but, according to 'Transfermarkt', last July our squad was worth 332.10 million euros and today it is worth 386.95 million euros. Even when taking into account, losing Harry, Raul, Samuel and Jonah deducts 48 million euros from our squad worth this is partly offset by deducting 30 million euros in respect of Andreas, Luke, Martial and Adama who have left. However, we do seem to have lost out on Martial Godo who, according to Transfermkt now has a value of 18 million euros. Don't think it's that dramatic: a. There's a multi-year headroom allowance; b. we're shedding some big wages and have some young talent to fill gaps (e.g. King, Ridgeon, Luc de Fog); c. non-football revenue can be applied (i.e. Riverside); d. we have a deep squad, albeit one lacking at the top-end, with some players with decent scoring records who underperformed (Muniz, ESR); e. we have a very consistent mid-table record to build on; f. our owners have shown they'll spend the max allowed.
