• Not a huge fan of the current Labour(HaHa)mob but the Conservatives were in a league of their own for sheer incompetence and stupidity IMO.Many of our present problems can be trac d back to the Thatcher goverment.As I’ve said someone who was born during or just after the war should know the dangers of the far right.My parents certainly did.I find it unbelievable that others can’t see the danger.Just my opinion.Mr Tony is ready to step into the breach.   • FFS, Thatcher was nearly 50 years ago. She got manufacturing and housing policy wrong but gave a wealth uplift to 3.5m families, which is something successive Labour governments have failed to get even close to doing. Are you saying all the governments that followed her were incapable of addressing the manufacturing and housing issues she left behind?   • Was your father baffling too? As a conservative, his political views were probably closer to reform than perhaps you'd care to admit. I came from a poor working class background too. My father voted conservative and my mother old Liberal. I believe in small government, think people should be left to live their lives without interference or reliance on the state. So that will always rule out left wing parties for me, even though I have some left leaning views. If everyone else stays the same, and a load of people with no income join, the overall 'equality' rating goes down. Its absolutely standard migration impact on socio-economic indicators.               • All anecdotal, unprovable nonsense. It is published fact, that the majority of migrants - when including those on dependent visa's do not contribute. Look at the ethnicity of people in social housing in most of our big cities. There's a clear downwards turn in contributors vs absorbers and some of the worst countries on the equality ranking are making up an increasing member of our immigrant population and you're then surprised that our socio-economic indicators are following suit.
