That seems a bit harsh. I'm not claiming any inside knowledge, only recall of bits and pieces I've read over the years. It may very well be wrong, but I don't comment with the consideration and precision that your contributions often exhibit. I'm just not that intelligent or bright enough to understand or articulate in the way that you and others seem are.   - You aren't actually. Clarke had to mend his fences with Reading FC; hence so his statement. It can be swallowed whole or viewed as the way Mike Rigg may have suggested to Clarke his meeting with S.Khan would go, but (the aspect omitted) didn't. All dates back to that frozen MK Don Stadium weekend that S.Khan flew in to endorse the proposition set up by Rigg. You'd need to be a fly on the wall and I can't claim to have been one, but some flies had mouths at the time. Probably is a bit harsh, but point stands. When it comes to inner workings of football clubs, astonishes me that people read/hear something and just believe it! It's clear that regarding transfers and managerial appointments, agents DELIBERATELY give journalists misleading information as part of negotiating tactics.
