Erlic gazed into Jade’s eyes one final time. There were some matters that troubled the guild master, and he was hesitant to let them be. First, the woman was shackled in the cell, and that in itself was quite puzzling considering there was a locked cell around her. What reason had the Sharm of confining her to a shackle? Wasn’t the cell enough of a hindrance to prevent her escape? That puzzled him. But most of all was the look that she had given him when he had first entered the cell area. It wasn’t a look coupled with the knowledge that she would be free, rather it was a look of recognition, and that bothered him.

While Ravin was busy unlocking the shackle, Erlic thought back, and couldn’t remember ever meeting someone like her. Jade’s face was one that he would have remembered, especially since it reminded him of the women in Kor Toi, and that was something he wouldn’t have easily forgotten. Perhaps she had seen him on one of his adventures? Either way, it disturbed him somewhat. Perhaps her story was true about being left in the ruins alone to face the five Sharm, but somewhere in her story there was just the slightest inkling of lies as well.

He gazed into the woman’s eyes one more time, taking a careful look at her facial features. He wasn’t interested in the fact she was naked, he was merely interested in who she really was, and what her main objective might be. He decided it was best to ponder over the matter elsewhere. He finally left the area, and decided to examine some of the empty rooms.

Corum moved as best as he could as he followed Marz, and Tristan. His head really hurt, but it seemed to be diminishing after the horrible tasting herbs Valhorek had given him. But in either case, he was at least able to manage on his own, once everyone had helped him to his feet.

They had entered the kitchen, and Marz was starting to do stuff, so Corum decided it was best to help. He found the stove, opened it up, and noticed that there was already wood piled in it. He pulled out some flint, and within moments had the wood smoldering. He blew on it a few times to make sure the rest of the wood caught, and then closed the iron door.

He rummaged around the room, and was able to find a nice pot, and some coffee beans. “Yo Marz,” Corum stated. “Java’ll be on in no time.” He managed to fill the pot with water, and then dumped the beans inside it. He placed it carefully on the stove. It would probably take a while before it was finished brewing, but at least they’d have something to drink besides water.

He continued to rummage around the area until he found something useful for Marz. “Yo dude!” he called out. “I found me some potatoes, onions, and an assortment of vegetables, and judging by their looks, they’re pretty fresh.” He pulled them out, and placed them on the table for Marz. They would be eating in no time, and he hoped that Marz would make the meal quickly for he was simply famished.

Erlic entered one of the empty rooms deciding to further investigate it now that the others were all present. Inside there were a couple of chests, and another door. He checked for any traps on the door, and found none. When he opened the door, he was surprised to see an assortment of weapons hanging from the walls. It was obvious that whomever the Sharm managed to capture, they confiscated their hostages’ weapons, and kept them for themselves. He recalled Ravin’s words to Jade about getting a spare weapon from the camels. Well, that wouldn’t be necessary now that he had found an assortment of weapons for the unique female to use.

He returned to the first room, and checked all the chests for any traps. Fortunately, there were none to be found, and they were all unlocked. Inside he found an assortment of both men, and women’s clothing in all sizes, and colors. Perhaps Jade wouldn’t have to look too far to find some accommodating clothes that might fit her. The thought of her recognizing him still nagged at the back of his mind. Perhaps he was reading too much into the thought, and then again, maybe not enough.

He returned to the middle area of the tower where he spotted Ravin, Isobel, and Jade. He approached the newcomer eyeing her warily. “There is a room over there,” Erlic stated pointing in the direction of the room he had just come from. “I was able to find an assortment of chests filled with various clothes. Perhaps you’ll find something to your….liking.”

He continued to gauge her reaction not sure what he was looking for. It could have been nothing, but he wasn’t sure. “Also,” he continued. “The room next to it has an assortment of various weapons that might fit your needs.”

The mention of weapons reminded Erlic of something he had picked up from one of the dead Slayers. “I failed to mention this before Ravin,” he stated to his friend. “I happened to find this weapon lying on the ground a few days ago.” There was no sense in letting his friend know he was an assassin, and that he, and Rowan, had killed the Slayers in cold blood. He handed his friend the dagger, which consisted of an ebony hilt, with the blade forming in an “S” shape similar to a snake. “Maybe you can add it to your collection.”

Erlic knew that Ravin collected unusual weapons, and thought it might come in handy someday. Although he didn’t stare at Jade directly, he continued to keep his eyes on her.
