Subject: Glenn Beck caused me to change my pre-set.......

That's it - because of this self righteous blowhard I finally had to take 1210 off the pre-set on my stereo at home. His show already is pretty unbearable to begin with. Who needs this morning zoo type moron talking down to us??How the hell did HE get syndicated?? But the final straw is his long extended over dramatic pauses....jeez I work nights and I go to bed about 5 or 6 in the morning...sometimes I wake up and turn on the stereo right above my my head and when I hear silence, naturally being half asleep I turn the volume all the way up - then this idiot's voice blasts me right off the bed. So 1210 will NOT be heard when I am home...not like I am missing anything anyway. I basically agree with the viewpoint of everybody on the station regarding the war in Iraq but it is BORING just hearing the same viewpoint all day long. Glenn Beck is easily the worst on the station but with the exception of Rollye James the rest of the station is a joke too.

Beck is a self-righteous blow hard and a major Bush suck up. Incredible since 3 years ago he was doing a stupid morning zoo show. I just wonder if he's as big a phoney as Smerconish is? Anybody know?

[> [> Anyone who was ever a DJ just can't be a talk show host. Hell, we have Limbaugh, Beck and Katz to prove it. Rollye's still a DJ! And a talk show host. Whoops - that's impossible. What's phony about Beck? The news he reads, the stories he tells or the speech he made at the rally? Or is it because he likes to pause occasionally? You blocked Fox News Channel? At least it's fair and balanced at your place... Maybe you should limit yourself to KYW and C-SPAN. -- Scott Tilde, 14:53:48 04/10/03 Thu

Not sure if Glenn Beck is a phony but I suspect he probably is....I do know that he is definitely a self-righteous blow hard and major Bush suck up. I don't care that he was once a DJ that became a talk show host - what I can't stand about him is his attitude like he is smarter than the rest of us. Dom Giordano has that same condescending attitude only he is not as outwardly obnoxious about it - although his show is even more unlistenable than Beck's because he is never ever funny and doesn't have the ability to do some occasionally funny voices. I don't think Smerconish is a phony though - I don't always agree with him but he has always been a pretty consistant conservative...even before it was trendy.

Actually tec, the biggest phoney of the lot is Smerconish. He tries to pull this pal buddy crapola and if you heard the April fools show, you know how much he really hates his listeners and thinks they are stupid.

I have said from square one, this guy is a phony. I still stand by my claim that he has naked pictures of management. If it wasn't for the war in Iraq, I think he would be history. He is using this conflict to boost his ratings. Doesn't work in my house. I even change the station when I hear his commercials while listening to some of the other shows. I place him in the same class as Geraldo "The Fake". I have also blocked FNC because of their "spin" on the Geraldo issue. Fair & Balanced.... what a joke!

I hear you.......! But you have to admit, this guy is a phony.

[> [> [> [> I don't have to admit anything. I don't know Glenn Beck personally, and in the absence of overt acts demonstrating his phoniness, I simply can't say whether he is (or isn't, for that matter) a phony. What evidence do you have that he's a phony? -- "Vince From Villanova" (So easy to say, so hard to prove...), 01:40:45 04/11/03 Fri

[> Scott are you really Mike Savage? The way you write sounds just like him! (and no, that's not as a compliment) As for talk radio, I'm down to only about 15 minutes a day now - as the old saying goes, you can't grow your mind if you pull it in only one direction - talk radio use to be about ideas - now its just all one sided propaganda (even if is was what I 100% agree with, that would suck) - you need to hear all sides to learn - sadly those days are long gone. -- richiep, 15:48:40 04/10/03 Thu

[> [> I do take the Michael Savage comparison as a compliment, thanks - but I've toned down my rhetoric for this board! Seriously, I think most who post here are just old crusties longing for the old days of WWDB. Y'all can't seem to stand anyone on 1210 outside of Rollye. I guess there's always NPR and WHAT... -- Scott Tilde, 01:20:09 04/11/03 Fri

“Old crusties longing for the old days of WWDB.” Not one to generalize are you, Scott? Talk radio fans come to this board to express their opinions; sorry you have to resort to name-calling (kind of an old talk radio shtick that went out with Fred Williams in 1971 in this market). “Crustie,” though I might be, I really like Jeff Katz, Michael Savage (yes, your name-calling reminds me of him) Phil Hendrie and Stern. You want to call names? Go back to elementary school…and finish it this time. Pseudonyms Uck, but we're "libel free."

[> [> [> [> [> Don't know about 30 years ago but I imagine it was pretty good back then. It certainly was better 15 to 20 years ago than it is now. Talk radio in Philadelphia has gotten progressively worse...like radio in general. A dying medium really. -- Tector Gorch, 14:15:29 04/14/03 Mon

[> [> [> old crustie missing WWDB....yeah that could be me -- Tector Gorch, 19:33:25 04/11/03 Fri

Scott, I guess you are partially right in my case. I do miss the old WWDB - Irv Homer, Dominic Quinn, Bernie Herman, Bernie McCain, etc. The hosts had DIFFERENT points of view from each other - WHAT A CONCEPT!!!Maybe those days are forever over. Everybody has an agenda these days. Not sure if I qualify as an "old crustie" though. I'm 38 years old now but I started listening to WWDB when I was a 19 or 20 year old musician who was fed up with the state of the music stations in Philly - and they are even worse now. You are correct that I can't stand ANYONE on WPHT except Rollye but that's not because I'm an old WWDB fan. Dom Giordano is from WWDB and I couldn't stand him then and I still can't stand him. As for Rollye I've only recently become a fan of her - never really listened to her on WWDB. In the final year or two of WWDB the station was awful - Jay and Hillary, Kent Voss etc...just terrible radio - even worse than WPHT is now. I am TRYING to like Jeff Katz though...he is the only one that MIGHT stand out.

[> Beck is a self righteous blow hard that loves the sound of his own voice and lack of it in those unnecessary pauses. I can no longer tolerate him or the sound of his voice. Should we start the count down calendar or is it already ticking away?? -- mediaman, 20:28:09 04/11/03 Fri

[> Beck just can't win with you guys. He's criticized when he's talking, then he's criticized when he stops talking. Maybe those pregnant pauses indicate a disability. Maybe he has a time perception problem. He gets loud sometimes -- maybe he has a hearing problem. Aren't you ashamed of yourselves? You'd pause for 18 seconds if you forgot what you were talking about. How have we become so intolerant?! -- SurveyGuy (with tongue in cheek ; actually more neutral about Beck. ), 21:39:39 04/11/03 Fri
