Subject: WPHT weekend overnight programming

Well, as usual, there were a few newsworthy events like a National tragedy and an impending war and PHT kept me informed with alot of dooby dooby doo doo. Thanks KYW.

This is the response I received from WPHT on dropping the weekend edition of Coast to Coast.

Coast to Coast will no longer air Saturday and Sunday nights. Yes we will
air infomercials beginning at 1am each night. These nights provide the least
listenership and therefore the least disruption when infomercials air. I
know this doesn't help you since this is a program you enjoy. Thanks for
listening and we hope you will continue to listen when you can.

WHAT A WASTE OF A 50,000 WATT CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO BEACON.

Thanks for finding out the truth. It makes me sick. It's like they are saying that weekend listeners aren't worth anything so 'lets just make some easy money since we have to be on anyway.' I won't be tuning in at any time on the weekends now.
It is a shame that such a rich resource like a 50K watt station is being dismantled right before our ears. Shame on your, Grace, you have more to do than carry Mike's attache case around DC. You need a wake up call, or a relocation.

I have been listening to WBZ 1030AM out of Boston. WPHT, take the time and monitor what a "talk radio" station is suppose to be about.

You could free up plenty of resources by getting rid of Imus and Beck from the start.

[> [> Altogether now, children: WPHT is owned by Infinity/Westwood One. Infinity/Westwood One has decided to keep Beck and Imus on the air. Yelling at the local folks about this makes about as much sense as yelling at the poor drive-thru employee at McDonald's because the corporate office discontinued your favorite milkshake flavor. If you really want something to change, try writing a letter to Infinity/Westwood One. -- "Vince From Villanova" (who knows a bit about barking up wrong trees), 05:24:39 02/14/03 Fri

Vince, I do understand what you are saying. But, how are the ratings for Imus and Beck in this area? If the people aren't listening and not buying your product, you have to make a change.

Take the Eagles game when they had that God foresaken "rap crap" playing at halftime. Talk about playing to the wrong audience. I'm bet my next pension check, you won't have that mess again. The person or persons responsible for that farce should be looking for a new job now.

I will send a few emails to the upper management of Infinity/Westwood One and express my dislike of Glenn(Stealing Money)Beck. Maybe they will surprise me and share Beck's ratings in this area. "Mornings with Mary", may have him beat.

[> [> On the performance of Beck and Imus, we have no disagreement. I've just gotten tired of people around here blaming local management for the bad decisions being made by the corporate suits in New York City. Oh, and notice I said "letters," not "e-mails." I've heard plenty of Congressmen say that they virtually ignore e-mail but pay much more attention to written mail. I'm willing to bet corporate fat cats operate the same way. -- "Vince From Villanova" (Playing to the right audience), 04:34:41 02/15/03 Sat

[> It's not just overnights. When you give up airtime to infomercials or ratings-challenged, out-of-town, tape-delayed syndicated product, there is no way you're going to become the station to turn to in the event of a tragedy or a war. If people are not listening to Imus, Beck, & O'Reilly now, why would that change if war in Iraq breaks out? Actually, based on the ratings, there are other significant pockets of local mediocrity, some of it costing big bucks. -- Louis, 14:20:35 02/15/03 Sat
