Blizzard of '03..... all of the surrounding States are in a "state of emergency". You would never know by listening to WPHT 1210AM "The BigTalker". I was curious to hear what kind of reporting would take place this morning. What did I find? A Best of Imus re-run.

Well, back to the "The Morning Show" on WIP, everything is still the same at WPHT. Out of morbid curiousity, I have to turn the station back to WPHT after 9:00AM. Just to see if they have the nerve to run a Best of Beck re-run.

The reason The Best of Imus was aired was because he was on scheduled vacation. WPHT is obligated to carry the feed.

Actually KEH, WPHT (and all other affiliates of a syndicated program) are only obligated to air the commercials. WPHT easily could have had a live and local show yesterday if they wanted to, but obviously just did not want to.

[> [> [> Johnny is right, and I know from experience: as long as they'd run Imus's spots, PHT could've gone live & local. But some logistical questions: who would've hosted the show? What do you do for live updates, force KYW's reporters into double-duty? And during big news like this, don't people tend to go to KYW first anyway? WPHT going live & local would've been a lot of effort for little gain. They may have been better off with Imus on tape. -- "Vince From Villanova" (Darn those pesky logistics...), 10:04:40 02/19/03 Wed

Just wondering KEH, how long have you worked at WPHT?

Like I said.... The Perils of Syndication. What would happen if North Korea launced a missile to the west coast. Would WPHT continue to carry "The Best of Imus"? You are set up to fail with "obligations" that mean little to your audience. They will go elsewhere.

I would also assume there is talk now about having a liberal "Talk Radio Host" on WPHT. That will be a complete failure, but someone from upper management says that we must do it. I can see it coming......!

Would someone "in the know" please post Glenn Beck's ratings? Thank you......
