Freddy.... You must know that I "lock and load" when ever hear Beck mentioned. There was a saying we used while I was in the Army (1965-67), stationed in Germany. When something sounded or ended in the desired outcome. We said, "That's the best thing I've heard since snake died. And when snake died, Chicago was a cow pasture."

I also listen to Mike Savage, and laugh to myself, wondering how he would react when he received the dreaded "Dave" call.

Well, I don't see any changes happening at WPHT. Beck is bad enough, but they have the nerve to run O'Reilly's program at 10:00PM. Long after it could heard from a NYC station in this area.

I'm convinced the whole radio industry is a sham. I can't believe that Beck, nor O'Reilly's delayed broacast, command any ratings surge in this area. So how does the station stay in business? Would still love to see the actual ratings for both shows.

Then to add insult to injury, I heard a clip stating that Beck was nominated for some talk radio award program. Who is doing the nominating and based on what? It's like a Beauty Contest with Whoopie Goldberg (Beck) going against Linda Evangelista or Yasmeen Ghauri. How did Whoopie (Beck) even get invited to the avent?

Okay... I'm back to the "safe position" now. Magazine released and the chamber cleared.

[> [> Telecommunications Act of 1996 -- Freddy, 11:31:38 02/24/03 Mon

I too am a veteran of the US Army. "Lock and Load" a 30 round magazine. Firerers, watch your lane. But down to cases.

Moyers has a left leaning show but he offers more than commentary. He digs for the facts and introduces knowledgable guests on a given topic. ONLY then does he give it a left wing spin. I loved his shows with Joseph Campbell and others too numerous to mention. He knows his stuff.

What the Telecommunications Act of 1996 did (I'm sure you know this)was ruin radio for the forseeable future and beyond. This act was wholeheartedly supported by the Dems and Reps who promised a new guilded age of radio. There is also new pending regulations and laws on the table that could give conglomerates even more control over the airwaves in the near future.

And these hearings and the work that goes into creating new rules are always done behind closed doors and the special interest with the most money wins. It is horrible. I'm convinced the US has seen its better days. Is it just me or does it seem everytime Congress deregulates a given industry they also ruin it? (e.g. telephone, moving, airline, trucking, radio, etc.)
