Subject: I like it but I have a feeling the Zoo may not go for it. I vaguely recall reading an article some time ago that Zoos are very strict about the handling of animals and making sure they are free of disease since outbreaks can spread rapidly amongst stressed animals in confined areas. Bringing in an animal which is repeatedly exposed to the public may be too high of a risk for them. Also, I'm sure Fordham would be concerned about liability in case of injury to people or loss of Zoo specimens. The better bet may be to go with a private farm upstate and bring Ramses down on Saturday mornings.
In reply to: CHAKA 's message, "I thin that this is an excellent idea. Aside from FU payng for the minor expenses, signage at zoo, food, and general care for The Ram, my only concern is the logistics of transporting the Ram to and from the Zoo and campus. It's not like taking the dog for a walk. If this pat of the equation could be handled properly, then I see it as a fantastic idea. If you have the answer to this concern, please present this to 'The Ram" and to the Atheltic Department. Goood Luck" on Fri April 08, 2005 08:32:09

  • Again, a young male animal would be easier to train for travel. It could be transported in a van, a Ram Van. (NT) -- M. Haddaliddle, Fri April 08, 2005 16:30:51
