I went to the baseball game yesterday at that glorified high school in Queens. It was a gorgeous day and some good, exciting baseball was played. When I got there the Rams were already down 4-0, but they battled back to tie it at 4. After going down 5-4 they tied up again and the game then went to extra innings. Xavier took the lead in the 10th on a walk, a sacrifice and an error. Unfortunately the Rams were unable to muster another comeback and fell by a score of 6-5. This team looks very scrappy and I do not know how they will fair as the season goes on, but they are fun to watch. By the way, St. John's has done a good job with their facilities. If I recall correctly, the "Ballfield at St. John's" was built for the Coney Island Cyclones as a temporary facility until their permanant home could be completed in Brooklyn. The Cyclones played in Queens one or two years, and then the facility reverted to SJU. If SJU put any money into the park, I would guess it was a minimum amount compared to the City. - Yep, the St. John�s baseball field was refurbished with taxpayer money (New York City Economic Development Corp.). When not in use by SJU, it�s available for community use.
