Subject: The A-10 is involved in scheduling "made for TV" OOC games on ESPN or ESPN2 for the better teams in the league. Example, a game like Xavier vs.Michigan State or St. Joe's vs. Wake Forest. Also, with the major downgrading of Conference USA, the A-10 will move ahead of that conference in power rating and may well end up with a CBS contract to replace the existing CBS/Conf. USA deal.
In reply to: DonHo 's message, "As far as I know, other than the three A-10 teams that we'll play home-and-home, the league will determine where the remaining 10 conference games will be played. I suppose (for television and venue availability reasons - i.e. Saint Louis' use of the Savvis Center) we probably won't hear anything of the conference schedule until September. Once they determine those 10 games for this season, I believe the sites for those games would be reversed for next season (i.e. if we play Temple at home this season, we play them in Philly the next season). As far as the non-conference games are concerned, for lack of a better description, those games are simply based on how well you can negotiate dates/times/sites with other schools. Other than determining the calliber of schools we could play (in order to maintain the conference's overall RPI), the A-10 generally has little/no say in non-conference schedules." on Mon April 04, 2005 08:37:37
