Subject: Great 26-3 Fordham Team

I remember that great Fordham Team. They beat Furman in their first game in the NCAA's. They then lost to V'Nova
and Howard Porter in the next game. It later was discovered that Howard Porter was really NOT ellgible to play but game was never forfeited or record corrected. In those days there was a consolation came in the regionals and our Fordham Team beat a really good South Carolina team. I believe we were something like 28/29 from the free throw line that game and were led by Kenny Charles.
That team was absolutely super and their record of achievement deserves our recognition. They just ran and ran and ran and were something to watch. They were led by Tommy Sullivan who was 6ft. 4 and played Center! The
guards were Billy Mainor and John Burick. Bart Woytowitz(sic?) and Charley Y were the forwards with (Dr) George
Zambetti and Kenny Charles coming off the bench. Rose
Hill Gym rocked in those days and I am quite certain will do so again in the very near future. That team deserves to be honored as they were Nationally ranked in the top 20! Digger left Fordham taking Frank Mac with him as his assistant and that was somewhat understandable. He however, also took with him to ND, 6 ft 8,
Peter Crotty, whom he had recruited for Fordham! Poor show to say the least. How about PJ Carlisimo as a MC as
he was a member of that great record setting Fordham team.
(he rarely played but was there at end of bench)
Thoughts?
