They will definitely be in the thick of things, perhaps even favored to win it again, but I still think that it would be in their best interest and that of the conference for them to schedule a bit easier. For the record, gentelmen, Chet Stachitas injured his ankle in the San Francisco game. Since then, he was not afforded the opportunity to allow it to heal, so he's been playing with a sore ankle all season. He has only been practicing the day before a game since then. He put up games of 27 and 25 early in the season so he can fill it up when healthy. He will easily average 15-18 points/game next year. Hawks lose about 23 points a game with Carroll and Bryant leaving (21 of those Carroll's.) Several guys figure to improve and make up for that scoring loss. Hawks will be better, not worse. - Come on, Its silly to say that Stachitas will "easily" avg 15-18 points. He got most of points bc defenses were so worried about Carroll. I think St. Joe's will be in the mix as usual, but I think Jalloh is going to be key for them. He made a lot of progress toward the end of the season.   - Stachitas is currently averaging 10.8 points per game (good for second highest scoring average on the team despite a bad ankle) THIS year. So I guess it isn't far-fetched that he could duplicate what he did on a bad ankle and have at least 10 next year. 15 is the worst-case scenario next year for a healthy Stachitas. Book it. Also, last year, people said that Carroll got most of his points because people were focusing on Nelson and West. Without Nelson and West, Carroll's scoring average went way up.
