Check the previous post "God Emperor mentions Norma Cenva". In it there is a quote that alludes to prescient machines.
Sorry my friend, but the Butlerian Jihad, House Atreides, House Harkonnen, and House Corrino are far from BS. They are now officially in the Dune canon whether you like it or not. Personally I think those books are good in their own right.
I hate that everyone is like "Oh no! Someone other than Frank is writing a book...they're crap!" Heaven forbid that we acknowledge someone else's work. MAybe you like Frank's writing style better,fine; but it's kind of dumb to compare anyway. Even Brian and KJA have stated, they tried to do their own thing while being true to the world that Frank had created and ultimately would try to tell a good story. And they did in my opinion.

you are right, we really don't know what is coming other than clues we have been given. In a previous posts I have guessed that prescient machines are the evil and that the machines have become human like. Perhaps they have developed face-dancer capabilities.
But considering that Brian and Kevin are writing the next chapter and they have laid the ground work for thinking machines to be out in the cosmos unattended, I don't think it is a bad educated guess to say that the threat is machines.
Also, Brian and Kevin had access to Frank's notes posthumously. I am sure that they would be very respectful of any ideas that were laid out in those notes. If Frank intended Face dancers to be the threat to humanity, thenit will be Face Dancers. If Frank intended it to be prescient machines, then it will be prescient machines. I am casting my lot with the latter right now based on hints we have been given. And considering that writing the Dune Prequels and now the Dune Legends Trilogy was in part sparked by finding Frank's notes, my guess is that there was something in those notes that suggested machines ending up where they end up by Chapterhouse.
But saying that there is NO EVIDENCE to suggest machines is simply being ignorant of the way things are going right now.
