Dialup was the pits back when that was all we had around here. Of course I had a slower computer as well and when I upgraded the computer and went to a faster dialup it got better. then they began offering DSl over the incoming line which is limited by distance but I was in a service area so could get it.
Now we have Comcast and Verizon always trying to sell everyone on buying into a package deal for either everything over the cable ( phone internet and cabletv ) or FIOS with the same options roughly speaking.
Too bad you serive provider can't offer one of the faster options up your way yet..... someday they will one way or another.

I sent Morgan a lot of the photos I had as well as other stuff from FC over dialup and I think I was sending her everything in big files originally. Since there were many locations in the service provider pantheon around here I could find one that was not always loaded and slow as molasses so it worked out ok for a while with big slowdowns when the kids got out of school and were downloading music right after they got home.

Still on DSL which while slow is not too bad and minimal broadband.

Just saying I feel for you in that situation...
