Klippity-Clop, Klippity-Clop. A large man, astride an equally large mount drew his cloak tighter about him. He spurred his horse on lightly, through the gentle splatter of the rain. Grimacing slightly, he knew he would have to oil his gear once this infernal rain stopped. Thankfully, his oilskin cloak would help relieve some of the problems. As the horse continued to pad down the road towards Rhonde, he contemplated his journey from the hilly region of Velrade.
Baron Frederick von Braun III, the younger son of a relatively unknown Baron in the western expanses of Pliartha continued to encourage his weary horse on through the rain. In the saddlebags on the side of the horse he carried a wooden container, from his father, to give to his cousin, the ruler of Pliartha, at the court of Rhonde. He would arrive early tommorow, at this rate.
Stopping for a while, Frederick made camp for the night. The rain began to cease, while he made a fire, and lay to bed for the night, gazing out at the stars beyond. Velrade felt half a world away, as he lay on this muddy, well-traveled road. The small town that was the capital of his family's land had never seen this much traffic, even with the old border war. Yet, Frederick felt oddly more at ease here. Closing his eyes, he lay at rest for some time, before drifting off to a peaceful sleep.
Waking at dawn, he resumed his trip. mounting his now rested horse, he continued on down the road. He would soon be there, and none the wiser for what would lay in store for him.
